http://myhandboundbooks.blogspot.com/ Last year, I met an origami artist who was looking for marbled paper to use for her origami cranes. The paper that I normally marble is meant for bookbinding, and would be too thick. So I marbled a special batch of lighter-weight papers for Jeanne, of Blue Ridge Origami. Jeanne started making origami cranes as an inexpensive giveaway for a trade show event, but afterwards took the extra cranes to the hospice where she works. There, the cranes were given to patients and families where they became very popular and much appreciated. Jeanne also told me that several years ago, her hospice "adopted" the country of Zambia.

How to Create a Professional Magazine Layout | Vectortuts+

A few times a each month we revisit some of our reader’s favorite posts from throughout the history of Vectortuts+. This tutorial by Otto Coster was first published on August 4th 2010. Have you ever wondered how professional designers strike the perfect balance between text and image? Step 1 Setting up the Document We’ll be using a standard A4 size document for this tutorial.
First I want to apologize for the lack of pics. My camera is dead and I don't have easy access to a scanner at the moment, but as soon as I have batteries for my camera I will put up my new work. In the past week I have been doing a lot of drawing. I have thus far stayed true to my resolution of doing something art related every day. The first two days since I started were original and only took me an hour or so each to complete. If that.

Warning: Long post but there is a surprise at the end. Hi everyone, I hope you're enjoying the weekend. We've had a soggy day so far with rain and a few thunderstorms, but at least it's warm: 59˚ and the sun is peeking through-not bad for 'Winter' hah! Michelle Ward has another great challenge this month-instead of making a To-Do list for 2012, she prompts us to make a 'Ta-Da' list of what we accomplished in 2011.
Don't you agree that receiving comments from your crusade posts really makes the effort worthwhile? We have a great team of players who share their interpretations of the challenge but then spend alot of time tracking the other crusaders to leave kind words of encouragement. It's nice to know there is a community of fellow artists who are trying out the same things you are which makes their comments an even more important part of the process. It's the next best thing to gathering around a table and working together. I love hearing that many friendships have been formed through this platform. That only happens when we reach out with our words.
