Bringing communities together. Make it happen.

Funding

Volunteering. Landshare. With allotment waiting lists massively over-subscribed and people right across the country keener than ever to grow their own fruit and veg, the aim for Landshare is to become a UK wide initiative to make British land more productive and fresh local produce more accessible to all.

Landshare

But all of this depends on people like you registering their interest now. Landshare brings together people who have a passion for home-grown food, connecting those who have land to share with those who need land for cultivating food. Since its launch through River Cottage in 2009 it has grown into a thriving community of more than 55,000 growers, sharers and helpers. It’s for people who: • Want to grow veg but don’t have anywhere to do it• Have a spare bit of land they’re prepared to share• Can help in some way – from sharing knowledge and lending tools to helping out on the plot itself• Are already growing and want to join in the community It began with the tiny seed of an idea – and it’s growing and growing.

School Enterprise. Farming for All. We believe in the benefits of outdoor activities on the wellbeing of children and adults.

Farming for All

We have seen the benefits this can deliver in a school environment, how it helps children understand the natural world, how to eat healthy diets, where food comes from. The activities improve their self esteem, gives them focus and helps calm students who find integration into standard education situations difficult. Your school may now be looking to apply these benefits within the school environment through a School Allotment Project, perhaps linked to the Healthy Schools, "Grow your own" or Sustainable Schools initiatives. However, such activities are new to many schools. Their teachers may have very limited experience in setting up such schemes and it is hard to know where to start. The following packages have been developed to give an outline of what can be achieved. School Allotment Primer School Allotment Starter School Allotment Basic Build School Allotment Staff training Modules include: Gardening with Children. Welcome to “The Gardening with Children” Blog.
