Physician Guide on Medical Record Documentation Requirements. ACP: Clinical Recommendations. ACP develops three different types of clinical recommendations: Clinical Practice Guidelines, Clinical Guidance Statements, and Best Practice Advice. ACP's goal is to provide clinicians with recommendations based on the best available evidence; to inform clinicians of when there is no evidence; and finally, to help clinicians deliver the best health care possible.

You can also access ACP Guidelines on your smartphone. Current Guidelines - based on a systematic review of the literature. Guidance Statements - based on a review of existing guidelines. Best Practice Advice - developed through a review of available evidence and guidelines. Evaluates the value of diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions. Physician Guidelines - Surgical Treatment Of Diverticulitis. SSAT Patient Care Guidelines Surgical Treatment of Diverticulitis Colonic diverticulosis, which is among the most common diseases of Western civilization, is the result of a low-fiber diet. In the United States, approximately one-third of the population will develop diverticulosis by age 50 years and approximately two-thirds by age 80 years. While the entire colon may be involved, the greatest concentration of diverticulosis is normally found in the sigmoid and descending colon.

The acute inflammation of diverticula is known as diverticulitis. Uncomplicated diverticulitis is a clinical diagnosis. The presentation of complicated diverticulitis is more severe in the acute phase, although patients with isolated fistulas to the genitourinary organs may present with more indolent disease. The diagnosis of acute diverticulitis is based upon history, clinical findings and the presence of leukocytosis. Anaya DA, Flum DR. Bordeianou L, Hodin R. Makela JT, Kiviniemi HO, Laitinen ST. Created in 1984, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF or Task Force) is an independent group of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine that works to improve the health of all Americans by making evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings, counseling services, or preventive medications.

The USPSTF is made up of 16 volunteer members who come from the fields of preventive medicine and primary care, including internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics/gynecology, and nursing. All members volunteer their time to serve on the USPSTF, and most are practicing clinicians. When Congress authorized the USPSTF, it required the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support the Task Force's work.
