Free Woodworking Plans to Make Your Own Washers Game. Washers is a game that can be played individually or in teams. However, each player should have his/her own set of three (3" diameter) washers. Each set of three washers should be painted a different color for easy identification in play. Choose the order in which players will throw. The first player will stand on one box and toss the three washers (one at a time) toward the other box. Sinking a washer into the hole closest to the shooter is worth one point, the middle hole two points, and the furthest hole three points.

After the first player shoots all three washers, the second player throws their three washers, then the third player and so on. The game continues until any player (or team) amasses 21 points exactly. Strategy: Keep in mind that it is always beneficial to go as early as possible in every round. Every player seems to have a different tossing technique. Box Hockey. History[edit] Four-player box hockey being played in Miami, FL 1935 Box hockey has little known origin, but the game has been around since at least the late 19th century, as described in various game books, such as Games for the Playground, Home, School and Gym (Jessie H. Bancroft, 1913) and 400 Games for School, Home, and Playground (F.A. Owen Pub. Box Hockey was listed as the "Game of the Month" as published in the 1914 Volume 2 of the "Recreational helps" by the New York State College of Agriculture Department of Rural Sociology with the following description: "Box hockey is an excellent active game for picnics camps and playgrounds.

By the 1950s, Sears & Roebuck was selling a mass-produced version of box hockey for 50 cents.[2] In the mid-1950s adult box hockey clubs in Eugene, Oregon battled for the title "Springfield Box Hockey service club champions".[3] Modern rules[edit] To start the game (and after each goal), the puck is placed under the center mouse hole. News] - Still Recovering in Arkham Asylum. (Opening night) The city of Roseville is still reeling from a recent invasion of over a hundred brave souls seeking a weekend of horror and fun. For those who weren’t able to attend Arkham Nights this past weekend, here is a quick look at some of the highlights that made this one of our successful events yet! Friday night was met with an eager crowd preparing themselves to do battle against the Ancient Ones with Arkham Horror designer Richard Launius, face off against new challengers with Call of Cthulhu, or catch one of the many exciting seminars planned for the weekend.

Among the activities on the schedule were two epic games of Arkham Horror entitled To the Barricades and Streets of Insanity. These scenarios incorporated different aspects from all the Arkham Horror expansions to date. Needless to say, it was a horrific ordeal. Various seminars were held over the weekend to give fans a chance to learn more about their favorite games from the designers themselves. Carcassonne. Some friends finally got me to download the iPhone version of the addicting game Carcassonne, and I've quite enjoyed it so far. But thanks to my recent desire to study games academically, I couldn't just enjoy it - I had to analyze it, too. The first observation I made was about how my understanding of the game progressed. The first time I opened the app was when a friend requested that we play an Internet game.

I tried to open the rules and read them, but didn't really understand them (this has a lot to do with the telling vs. discovery principle I discussed earlier). So I started placing tiles and Meeple (what they call the set of seven "followers" you place on the board to earn points) pretty much randomly. After not having a clue what I was doing for a few moves, I switched to a local game against the built-in AI (in an Internet game you can end up waiting hours for the other person to move again).
