[Official] NVIDIA GPU Mod Club - AKA "The Mod" Correct me, thanks to the idea of RAFALE77 and I can fine-tunes a link thanks to Jake Crimmins , my setup Essure the basis of a M-ATX case (NZXT VULCAN) and an SLI GTX580 OC 823Mhz The advantage of this system: everything is cheaper than a single waterblock for these cards! The only downside is we have to keep the OEM fan on the card to cool the VRM and RAM, but at least we can lower the rate of 50% and will remain quieter much quieter, and it is maintenance free who can not afford to pay for a real Watercooling, I managed differently and for less and maintenance free, so the CPU speed has a H100 4.8Ghz and my 580GTX SLI Antec 620 each a cadense everyone 823Mhz I just returned to shoehorn my SLI Antec 620 with WC in a tower Micro-ATX (I think I'm the first to do so in a M-ATX) In his more than excellent temperature at rest for both cards 29 °, play for 2 hours on the first card BF3 44 ° and the other 48 ° and 57 ° in 2.5 heaven Excuse me for my english I'm french so here's how I :

Delidded my GTX460...[update 9/18] results are in! So I was busy lapping my H100 and 2600K and I glanced over at my setup and my MSI GTX460 Cyclone (stock OC 725MHz) caught my eye... Long ago I replaced the stock cyclone HSF with an Artic Cooling Accelero XTREME Plus. At the time I was mildly curious if I should lap the HSF surface as well as the IHS of the GPU, but I didn't do it then. Not so anymore. I pulled off the Accelero Extreme HSF thinking I would figure out a way to lap that GTX460 IHS now. Notice those aluminum heatspreaders sitting on the vrm's on 3 sides of the GPU...those are adhesive glued onto the vrm's and they aren't coming off so that I could get in that area to lap the IHS directly. So then I started thinking about the next alternative...why not just pop the lid off the GTX460 altogether? To pop the lid off the GPU, it was surprising easy, I used a standard razor blade: Nevertheless it popped off and I was left with: Cleaned up with some 91% IPA and standard kitchen paper towels:

MSI Afterburner Saludos. GTX460 IHS removal - techPowerUp! Prior to our 33-Way Thermal Compound Comparison article published back in March 2008, there had not been another project of its size available online. So when Benchmark Reviews revealed our test results, it was a surprise to find that many overclockers had been ill-informed by marketing hype and misleading enthusiast opinions. Benchmark Reviews later published several other complimentary articles for performance hardware enthusiasts, offering an instructional guide on Thermal Paste Application Methods and testing for the Best CPU Cooler Performance. As the author to both of those articles, I have discovered that the most critical factors pertaining to thermal cooling performance seems to be overlooked. In this massive follow-up article, which was built from entirely new project data taking over one year of research to publish, our collection of test material has grown to include every product we could acquire from the marketplace.
