The People's Daily praised provincial officials for negotiating with local people to resolve the row. In an editorial, it blamed local officials for failing to address the villagers' "reasonable demands". Meanwhile in a report on the row, China Daily said two local officials had been removed from their posts. Users of Sina Weibo, the country's Twitter-like micro-blogging site, say searches for Wukan return no results. Instead, a message appears saying: "According to relevant law, regulations and policies, search results for Wukan cannot be displayed. " A land dispute in the Guangdong village intensified this week when a villager died in police custody.
