Polígono reinforcing steel furniture by Losgogo

Losgogo set themselves a three-week deadline and a restricted palette of materials to create their collection. "Polígono is a design project with three requirements: two materials, a method and a due date," Nico Aracena, one half of Losogo, told Dezeen. Steel more commonly used to reinforce concrete was welded into angular shapes and painted bright colours, before sections of wood were added to complete the items. "The chairs and benches that construction workers spontaneously build on their working sites became our approach," said Aracena. The result of the time trial was six mirrors and eleven pieces of furniture, including chairs, tables, shelves, a floor lamp and a coat stand.

Triangular, rhomboidal and hexagonal mirrors have simple wood frames stained with softer colours than the furniture. Shine outdoor furniture by Arik Levy for Emu. Paris-based designer Arik Levy has created a family of lightweight outdoor furniture for Italian brand Emu with aluminium seats and frames that are resistent to atmospheric conditions. The Shine series includes a seat, a stackable armchair with teak armrests, a footrest, a low table with a teak top and a large dining table also with a teak top. The collection is available in a range of colours and was presented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan last month. Paul Loebach's PEG chair slots together (suggestively) New York designer Paul Loebach's flat-pack wooden chair slots together without glue, as demonstrated in a series of vaguely pornographic gifs (+ slideshow).

Paul Loebach's PEG chair slots together (suggestively)

Paul Loebach showcased the prototype of his flat pack PEG chair in collaboration with Makers Anonymous during New York design week last month. The chair – which Loebach says is "charming and childlike in its purity" – comprises eight pieces of birch wood machined using Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) technology. These fit together using "peg and hole" joints, as the gifs graphically show. As the wood naturally expands and contracts over time the structure tightens, creating a sturdy and stable form. Vitra adapts Eames Wire Chair for outdoor use. Swiss furniture brand Vitra has released a powder-coated version of the Eames Wire Chair, making it suitable for outdoor use.

Vitra adapts Eames Wire Chair for outdoor use

Originally created by American designers Charles and Ray Eames in 1951, the Eames Wire Chair features a one-piece seat shell made from a grid of welded steel wire. 63 years on, Vitra has recreated the Wire Chair for al-fresco use by powder-coating the frame so it becomes resistant to corrosion. "The chair is a variation on the organically shaped one-piece seat shell design, combining transparent lightness with technological sophistication," said Vitra in a statement. Previously offered only in chrome, the design is now available in a choice of three smooth finishes: basic dark, dark grey and cream. The powder-coated Eames Wire Chair will be featured alongside the 2009 Bistro table by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec at Grow London, Hampstead Heath's Contemporary Garden Fair, from 20 to 22 June. Arkwright offices by Haptic feature a slatted wooden staircase

Strategy and corporate finance firm Arkwright asked Haptic to design the interior of its new offices, which are located in a converted harbour warehouse in Oslo's Aker Brygge area. Upon entering the offices on the upper floor, staff and visitors are confronted with a monolithic reception desk made from stained black timber slats.

Behind the desk, the wooden strips become more spaced out, creating curving walls that surround a back office and transition into the wall behind the staircase. "The design is inspired by svabergs - large granite stone formations that are typical for the area - rounded and polished by icebergs thousands of years ago," the architects described. The staircase descends to a lounge area and incorporates widened treads that offer spaces for casual seating. Jaime Hayon designs Analog table for use in home, office or restaurant. Nadia furniture by Jin Kuramoto made using shipbuilding techniques. Stockholm 2014: this collection of wooden furniture by Japanese designer Jin Kuramoto is built using traditional techniques derived from shipbuilding (+ slideshow). Pieces in Jin Kuramoto's Nadia range for his new brand Matsuso T are constructed using a particular interlocking technique known as kumiki. "The heritage of many of the woodworking techniques used by Japanese carpenters originates from Japanese shipwrights," said Jin Kuramoto. "Inherent in its position as an island nation, it is unsurprising that the maritime industry has been a driving force behind the innovation of wood construction for centuries. " Curved sections of wood form grids for the chair backs, which flow into supports for the thinly padded seats. The chairs come in natural wood or bright red. Ph_300114_18. Famous modernist chairs merged into a bar stool by Eugeni Quitllet. Maison&Objet 2014: Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet has taken the silhouettes of famous modernist chairs and amalgamated them into the back of this bar stool. Eugeni Quitllet's Masters Stool retains the sinuous forms of the chair he created with French designer Philippe Starck for Italian plastics company Kartell.

The three strands that form the back are derived from the recognisable outlines of Arne Jacobsen's Series 7 chair, Charles Eames' DSW seat and Eero Saarinen's Tulip design. These intertwined shapes create a back support and armrests that flow into the seat and legs. Un appartement conçu selon la mode "Open space" - Un loft créatif et tendance !
