Keeping with the last post of Album Artwork, I decided to look no further then Concert Posters. Concert posters have been around for years and years, propaganda of the music industry. Young determined designers to respected professional designers have given their all to create these posters. I have been collecting these posters for a few years now, my main source has been Gig Posters . This is a great collection of posters, I have split the post into 2 parts, I will be posting Part 2 later this week. There are a few different styles, and different artists, both music and design related.

Like many others I find myself captivated with vintage advertising. There have been numerous articles, blog posts and websites dedicated to the subject and I just can’t seem to get enough. Specifically, it is the advertising of the 50′s and 60′s that is most aesthetically pleasing to me.

Moreover, concert poster design , which has produced some truly revolutionary artists and works for generations now, should be paid particular attention to. Fluidity of design is especially key in poster layouts, as there is a finite space, and numerous points to capture and pass along within these confines. The designer must encapsulate not only the band’s attitude and tone with the work, but also impart the feel of the album or tour that the poster is announcing. And speaking of announcements, the posters must seamlessly incorporate the typography that tells the reader the names, dates, and places of import.
