Estátua do artista em sua terra natal, Japaratuba, Sergipe. Considerado louco por alguns e gênio por outros, a sua figura insere-se no debate sobre o pensamento eugênico, o preconceito e os limites entre a insanidade e a arte, no Brasil. A sua história liga-se também à da Colônia Juliano Moreira, instituição criada no Rio de Janeiro, na primeira metade do século XX, destinada a abrigar aqueles classificados como anormais ou indesejáveis (doentes psiquiátricos, alcóolatras e desviantes das mais diversas espécies). Biografia[editar | editar código-fonte] Natural de Japaratuba, no interior do estado de Sergipe – onde nascera em 1909, e para onde jamais retornou – para ingressar, em 1925, na Marinha, Arthur Bispo do Rosário foi negro, pobre e nordestino.

The transnational mobility of artists and culture professionals has been a priority of the Culture programme since 2000. Mary Ann has been the Chair of the Photography Department since January 2012. For the previous five years she was the Curator of Photography at the New Mexico History Museum/Palace of the Governors, where she curated two major exhibitions: Contemplative Landscape and Through the Lens: Creating Santa Fe. Yeiser Art Center's mission of developing the appreciation of the visual arts and nurturing the creative spirit played an important role in Paducah's designation as the world's seventh City of Crafts and Folk Art by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
