Si alguna vez habéis estado en Sicilia, entenderéis seguro de lo que os hablo cuando digo luz, serenidad, sol, gentes tranquilas que no miran el reloj y una calma que sinceramente, yo no he visto en ningún otro sitio de Europa, aunque intuyo que ese ritmo pausado se ha ido cultivando en muchos otros rincones bañados por el mediterráneo -aún no he pisado suelo griego, he de confesar-, a base de siglos de buen tiempo, buenas viandas y mejores vistas.

(Hala, esto sí que es saltarse la historia a la torera, irse a lo básico y de frente... a lo que al final importa, vaya). El caso es que esta casa, este gran apartamento del primer piso de un palacio del XIX de la maravillosa Catania, respira esa misma paz y se baña de esa enorme luz de la que os hablaba antes.

I know it's hard to believe that someone hasn't already tried chalk paint by now, but I am one of them. Well, WAS one of them. I can officially say that I've tried it and am now the proud owner of a grey dining room table! I have a lot of grey and white in my house. So, my natural choice was, of course, French Linen. This is my table before. And this is my table during the painting process. You can see that the paint is still wet in the above picture. Here is the after! I'm loving the new look! Well, now you want my opinion of this paint don't you? That on the legs of the table. For now, I'm just glad that I finally made it to the chalk paint party!!

Reader's home - Carolin's DIY apartment in Germany. Today's reader's home comes from Carolin: I'm 34-years-old and I'm living in Cologne, Germany, working as a graphic designer.

I love living in a comfy & neat home and I do love to craft, so I renovated this 60 sq m apartment completely on my own. I painted the walls, built some lamps and the table, painted the chairs and did the art work (also the photos, as I love to photograph, too). Some furniture is new, some is from my grandma, and some are flea market finds - like the ladder, which I brought home by foot, though this was a 2 hour walk ;). I love the cosy vibe of Carolin's place, especially how she used paint to create interest on the walls - instead of just doing the typical focal wall. And WOW - great DIY art!
