Behold the humble cardboard box - our house is full of these, and today I am taking a break from sewing to extol its virtues as a craft medium.

Emily loves playing post office. After a trip to the Children's Museum a couple of years ago, she wanted to recreate the experience of sorting and delivering letters. Over the ensuing months, we collected various accessories (scroll down) to help her do just that - a small mail bag, re-used envelopes, square stickers for stamps, rectangular stickers for address labels, and a random coat or two for her uniform. This weekend, watching her and Jenna make a multitude of letters, an idea formed in my head that I couldn't get out. So while they were napping, I found a large cardboard box that once contained diapers and made this mailbox The girls were thrilled - Jenna mostly because it was something else in she could use her markers on. These were made last year, when Jenna was a bald baby and Kate wasn't yet born.

If I can do this, anyone can. (Zoes bed) Inexperienced, clumsy me. The one who recently discovered anawhite.com and was inspired to build Zoe's play kitchen and my coffee table, prior to which I had never used a drill or a power saw, other than maybe briefly in techie in school, but I don't remember much about that. Anyway the point is, I am very very much a beginner.

I make TONS of mistakes. But I like tackling big projects. And when I saw plans on Ana White for a loft bed with playhouse underneath, a dream was born. So first I'll win your approval by showing off the finished project. Next I'll tell you everything I did wrong. Every leg post is supposed to have 3 boards which combine when assembling the built walls. Some of the railings weren't tight, and the boards were splitting. After I built the large back wall, it occurred to us that it wouldn't fit in through her door, so we had to saw it in half and stick it back together in her room. All for the Boys - All for the Boys - MOVE OVER PAPER&AIRPLANES - StumbleUpon. Because the straw plane is in town! I don't know what you call this thing but we referred to it as a strawplane. Whatever you want to call it, it's pretty cool! You'll need some heavier paper (we used 3x5 index cards), a straw, scissors or something to cut the paper with, and tape.

You will need to cut 3 pieces of paper about 1" wide and 5" long. Tape two of the pieces together "long ways" and then tape to form a circle. Use the remaining piece to form a small circle and tape the ends together. Now you have a large circle and a small circle. Tape the straw to the inside of the circles placing the small circle at one end and the large circle at the other end. And you're done! Now is the fun part! The boys had to try and fly a straw without the circles to make sure that it wasn't just the straw that was the good flier. Have fun fllying! P.S. Teen Crafts - Crafts Projects and Ideas for Teens.
