Results of the Europeana User Survey 2014. Earlier this year we were all ears with the launch of our biennial user survey, which was answered by over 2,000 users of the Europeana.eu website. Every two years, we conduct such a survey to better understand what our users do when they arrive on Europeana.eu and how they feel about using the website to search, browse and share Europe’s cultural collections. The feedback that we receive from these user surveys has been integral in the continued development of the Europeana.eu website and related services, it also helps us grasp who our users are, how they generally rate our service and how they think Europeana.eu compares with other services on the web.

In the five years that Europeana has existed, we have conducted three user surveys, the previous two being in 2009 and 2011. Our last user survey, which was launched in Q1 of 2014, was a collaborative effort between a number of teams in Europeana together with User Vision - a UK based usability and accessibility design consultancy. How Europeana helps Wikipedia editor and GLAM ambassador. Today, Àlex Hinojo, GLAM projects director at Amical Viquipèdia, tells us how Europeana is used to enhance Catalan Wikipedia articles. As a GLAM Ambassador (galleries, libraries, archives and museums) in Barcelona, I work to facilitate and improve the relationships between the Catalan GLAM sector and the local free knowledge community. Once heritage is digitised, catalogued, wikified and put online, it must come back to the people, so I'm looking for new ways to engage people with cultural heritage and share cultural commons. Since I discovered Europeana, I use it more and more every day. Local Wikipedians during an outreach activity in Barcelona, Wikimedia Commons, CC-BY-SA 3.0 As a Wikipedia editor Wikipedia editors are always looking for references.

It has a huge amount of specific heritage indexed content. It is very important for us that metadata is well documented. As a GLAM Ambassador. New recommendations outline ways to strengthen Europeana’s future relationship with Wikimedia. In light of the Europeana 2020 strategic plan, what shape should Europeana’s relationship to Wikipedia and the wider Wikimedia community take in the years to come? To find an answer to this question, a Europeana Network Task Force was formed with a mix of people drawn from the Europeana network of GLAMs as well as active members of the Wikimedia community. It was chaired by Jesse de Vos from the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, now at Wikimedia Netherlands, and had a clear mission to reach final recommendations that benefited both Europeana and Wikimedia. Together, the group has produced a report outlining ten ways in which Europeana and Wikimedia can build on their successful cooperation.

The first task was to create an overview of all past Wikimedia activities that Europeana has had involvement in. This list of past and current projects was built on-wiki (where else?) And shows very clearly the depth and breadth of the existing relationship. Session Timed Out.
