Sydney Blues & Roots Festival - Autumn Festival, 16th, 17th and 18th of May 2014. Newtown Festival 2013. It may have rained but it didn’t dampen the festival spirit! Our first rainy day in 20 years, did not dampen the spirits of the 40,000 plus people across the day who headed to Camperdown Memorial Rest Park to celebrate Newtown Festival’s 35th year birthday. Its testimony that the festival is a much-loved Sydney ‘jewel’ with an amazing loyal crowd. Thanks to all those who came to Newtown Festival and made a donation to the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre at the festival entrances. It was such a great day of festivities. The crowds soaked up the unique flavour of the festival’s eclectic creative programme, featuring three live music stages, the wonderful Vocal Local Village, the Writers’ Tent, Eco Oasis, as well as the Bike Boulevard, the Chai area and the Kids area.
Punters were spoilt for choice. Here at Newtown Neighbourhood Centre the Festival team are already brainstorming and getting excited about making the 2014 Newtown Festival even MORE amazing!
