Section 102 and Schedule 11 of the Welfare Reform Act, (Clause 99) – Power to require revision before appeal. If there is anyone left in doubt that this Government’s policies are grossly unfair, and are punishing the most vulnerable of our citizens, whilst the Tories are claiming that they are benevolent and paternalistic, by utilising an Orwellian Newspeak/Doublespeak methodology, you need look no further than Clause 99 for evidence to verify my conjecture. Currently, claimants who are found fit for work can continue to receive Employment Support Allowance (ESA) at the basic rate by immediately lodging an appeal if they think the decision is wrong. ESA will then remain in payment until the appeal is decided. That is all set to change, however, under Clause 99 of the Welfare Reform Bill, intended to be effective from April 2013 – and according to the Department of Work and Pensions, from October 2013 that includes ESA and DLA decisions.

Your beautiful baby boy, the baby who out does all others (you're biased remember) grows into a cheeky, exhausting toddler, he runs, plays, laughs, cries, and frequently sticks his hands into all kinds of yukky stuff before holding them out for you to sort out! He screeches with giggly excitement when you get down onto his level and climbs up for cuddles when he is hurt, sad, tired or sorry and only mums lap will do! You are his world and he is yours, you would happily lay down your life for this beautiful, amazing, wonderful, (sometimes exasperating) child like no other!

Cancer Research | Multiple reports. Bedroom Tax part 8 – far bigger cuts to come with the benefit cap! « SPeye. I have published 7 bedroom tax blogs in the last 10 days – the first one is here and includes links to the other 6 – all of which have been very widely read. Much more widely read than any other posts and I have had TV and radio and other media producers and researchers and reporters directly contacting me over them as well as a huge number of tenants as well as the usual housing professionals and that is strange for two main reasons.
The first is that earlier published blogs such as the systemic flaw in the overall benefit cap, the reporting of the freeze in LHA in 2012/13 and the 0.59% increase in 2013/14 not the 2.2% figure the government claimed were firsts. The same can be said that I first posited the idea that the shared accommodation rate will be applied to social housing as many now believe and the first to say the banning of HB to the under 25s was all hot air. The second reason is the more interesting one. Answer: Because a tenant household can see at a glance how much. Disabled by grenade - now soldier fights for his benefits. A seriously disabled British soldier injured in Iraq is taking the Department for Work and Pensions to a tribunal next week after they cut his carer's allowance. Adam Douglas, 45, a former lance corporal with the East and West Riding Regiment (now the Yorkshire Regiment), was wounded in a grenade attack in 2003 and then hurt in an accident in Basra in 2006.
He has had more than 20 operations on his spleen and spine but doctors say there is no more they can do. Though he regained some independence after being fitted with a device to help him better control his bowel and bladder functions, he says he still needs help washing and going to the toilet, and regularly uses a wheelchair. He says that six successive doctors, including three appointed by the DWP, have agreed his injuries are serious. It's a decision described by Douglas's former platoon sergeant, Andrew "Jock" Henderson, as "an absolute disgrace". On Monday, Douglas will attempt to overturn the decision at a tribunal in Leeds. An Ex Atos Nurse contacted me with her account of what she was expected to do during her employment carrying out Assessments. Her account confirms what we’ve known for years in that the system is target driven, her account also reveals that those running the Atos contract care not one bit about the wellbeing of those they call for assessment.
As this Nurse say’s at the end of her account, “ This is not a job any nurse should do, if their NMC registration means anything to them .”. J.Stoker is an alias that this Nurse has used for her own protection I resigned from Atos in 2012. As a nurse, I was taught to care and be compassionate about the people I was in contact with. This was not the case with Atos. It was very much a target driven role and you were under constant pressure to meet these targets. The doctors would ‘cherry pick’ the easy clients, as they were paid per case and often saw, on average, 14 cases per day. J. Duncankerrwelfarebenefit. IMPORTANT! In fact, the low paid have the highest marginal tax rate at 95% Who do benefits really benefit? There is a general misconception that benefits are simply handouts to the poor.
A misconception abused by drum banging politicians promising to starve the “work-shy” back into jobs. They hope to drum up votes by cutting benefit claimants' incomes and booting them out of the more desirable residential areas, with the collateral benefits of lower taxes and posher neighbours for the working man and woman. The reality is benefits are just as much a subsidy to businesses: a) Businesses are able to pay lower wages, which are then topped up by the benefits system. b) Businesses are able to raise prices on the better paid majority of Ripped-Off Britons, knowing that the minority on benefits won’t be pushed into the disruptive behaviour of the desperate. It avoids untidy stuff like living on the streets, shop-lifting, and general misappropriation of unaffordable goods and services. Sure, there are undoubtedly many benefits cheats. WOWpetition.com. Responsible department: Department for Work and Pensions Exclude ALL Severe and Enduring Mental Health Sufferers from the DLA Assessments in 2013 for the following Mental Health conditions. This vulnerable group will be hugely disadvantaged and won't have a voice to represent themselves at the assessment, yet they can come across as well to a person who does not know them, many believe they are not ill, which disadvantages them further! Being forced to work when they can't cope will increase homelessness and suicides amongst our most vulnerable mentally ill due to loss of housing benefits and other benefits, it will push many over the edge!
Please exclude Complex Mental Health Conditions,(many suffer from a combination of all of these conditions below), including my own son! Paranoid Schizophrenia Dual Diagnosis Personality Disorder The Government is absolutely committed to supporting disabled people, and is determined that support should be focused on people who need it most. Climate of fear inhibits some charities from criticising public policy. Gagging clauses in contracts and attacks by government ministers on those who speak out in support of the vulnerable are making some charities fearful, analysis suggests.
The result is growing concern about the extent of freedom of expression in the third (voluntary) sector, says an independent inquiry chaired by former Barnado's CEO Sir Roger Singleton, according to Patrick Butler, editor of society, health and education policy for the Guardian, writing in the newspaper on 22 January 2013. The government has become "increasingly contemptuous of those provider organisations which also speak out against injustice and inequality, the inquiry says", reports Butler. ThirdSector Online confirms that the Panel on the Independence of the Voluntary Sector is a group of charity leaders, academics and other experts on the sector who are producing five reports over five years on the independence of voluntary organisations.

Our welfare state is being transformed under false pretences | UK news. The government's programme of austerity and the transformation of the welfare state, which defines their response, is to become a harsh reality in April 2013 when a range of different reforms come into force. There are many different layers to this, including the recent decision to cut benefits and child tax credits in real terms - a decision alone that pushes 200,000 children into poverty. Another worrying aspect is the localisation of a reduced Council Tax benefit, which the New Policy Institute estimates will adversely affect 2.2 million working-age claimants.
Further reforms, such as changes to disability living allowance and the bedroom tax, all means that many people will suddenly find themselves in the midst of a personal financial crisis. Changes to the benefits system through monthly payments of Universal Credit will not help the situation - instead of people having to cope for a few days at the end of the week with no money, it will now often be the final week of the month. DWP/Atos/WCA: Unanswered questions demonstrate the Coalition’s cruelty. Mark Hoban, sending even his colleagues to sleep in another Parliamentary debate. Citizens of the United Kingdom probably take it for granted that the quality of debate in the House of Commons is usually very high (Prime Minister’s Questions being the dishonorable exception) and that all the questions raised in that place receive an answer. How sad to see that this is a comfortable lie. The Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions, Mark Hoban, directly answered only 10 questions, among the dozens that were put to him at the debate on Atos’ handling of the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) for Employment and Support Allowance on Thursday.
He added a handful of ‘answers’ that were not related to specific questions, and left a great deal of very important issues hanging. It is interesting that Mr Hoban was the minister who attended the debate. Here in the UK we do, in fact, have a minister dedicated to the needs of disabled people. Mr Hoban did not.
