CA's stuff - 9 Things Photographers Need to Know About Memory Cards

Photographers are gearheads. We love to know what the latest-and-greatest technology is and what piece of gear will produce optimal results. I admit it. I love the technology side of photography and I enjoy pixel peeping even when I know it doesn’t really help my photos. Surprisingly, however, I am frequently shocked at how clueless photographers are about memory cards. Memory Card Tip #1: Do not listen to the MANY photography instructors who teach that brand doesn’t matter, or that Sandisk and Lexar are both the same. Memory Card Tip #2: I constantly hear professional photographers teach that photographers need to get a super-fast memory card only for shooting video. Memory Card Tip #3: Never “erase all images” on your card. Memory Card Tip #4: While we’re discussing how to erase all images, never erase any of the images by using the computer. Pictures From Wonderland - Cade Martin (14 pics) "It appears cameras can capture the soul. " So it says on photographer Cade Martin's website. Take one look at his amazing portfolio and you'll see what he means. Martin tells magnificent, intriguing and beautiful stories. It's in the movement, the light, the composition. His dreamy photos remind me of Rodney Smith and Tim Walker. Cade Martin just recently collaborated with Design Army and the Washington Ballet to create a one-of-a-kind book commemorating Septime Webre's 10th year as the dance company's artistic director. You can buy the book at The Washington Ballet's website.

This well-executed series by Texas based photographer Tom Hussey focuses on the idea of reflecting back on our storied lives. "I was awarded a job for an Alzheimer’s drug called the Exelon Patch made by Novartis," says Hussey. "The Exelon Patch helps patients maintain long-term memories during the early stages of this horrific disease. I was fortunate to be included in a lot of the early concept stages for the campaign. I knew immediately location scouting and casting were going to be very important to evoke the emotions associated with the disease. " Strobist. Dan Heller's Stock Photography and Business Resources.
