Eat Drink Chic » Archives. We're heading into the time of year that Australians commonly refer to as the 'Silly Season'. The Christmas and holiday season is when everything goes a wee bit pear-shaped.. but in a good way. It's my favourite time of year. Something about the mass festivity provides ample heart cockle warm-age. I find even the uber-tacky tinsel laden shop windows and garish clashes of red and green not only tolerable but, strangely, endearing.

I feel a particular kinship with the season. However, I only really show this part of myself to my nearest and dearest. One of my favourite apps ever is Unstuck- it's a brilliant little resource that, strangely enough, helps you get 'unstuck'. So I'm hoping all this sudden, uncharacteristic disclosure will somehow open a door for me to being a little more 'silly' in my work and more forthcoming about my creative process- during this silly season and, hopefully, beyond.

In the meantime, check out this batch of holiday silliness. Snippet & ink: daily wedding inspiration. Style Me Pretty - The Ultimate Wedding Blog. Loveology. Inspiredideas. I don’t know why I’ve never really made a doll before now. You’d think since my father made dolls and had a little doll hospital going all through my childhood that I would naturally want to use my inherited craftiness to make dolls, too.

Afterall, my father taught my sisters and me how to make dolls when we were little. (I’m fairly certain my brother Shawn never made a doll). One summer we were set up at picnic tables on the back porch, following along the many steps in making a porcelain doll. All of the parts were kept neatly organized in the shallow cardboard boxes sodas come in. So when I heard about the auction for sweet Catherine who has cancer, I thought I might try to make a little doll. I thought of Catherine as I made the doll and the making became a sort of prayer. So here she is, the little doll that I made. She has sweet little things tucked into her apron pocket And she has her sewing bag all packed with a tiny project There is also a donation page set up here.
