Mucking around with ballpoint pen is a handy way to sketch, mainly because the lines aren't erasable. When I first stated playing with it, that fact made me very cautious. As I loosened up, though, and got into it, I realized I didn't care. Being gestural and loose is far more important than worrying about how permanent the lines are.
