Engaging Students in online Environments. Content Curation Primer. Photo by Stuck in Customs What is Content Curation? Content curation is the process of sorting through the vast amounts of content on the web and presenting it in a meaningful and organized way around a specific theme. The work involves sifting, sorting, arranging, and publishing information. A content curator cherry picks the best content that is important and relevant to share with their community.
It isn’t unlike what a museum curator does to produce an exhibition: They identify the theme, they provide the context, they decide which paintings to hang on the wall, how they should be annotated, and how they should be displayed for the public. Content curation is not about collecting links or being an information pack rat, it is more about putting them into a context with organization, annotation, and presentation. People and organizations are now making and sharing media and content all over the social web. Content Curation Provides Value from the Inside Out Getting Started. 100. How can I access YouTube or other videos with the new content filter? - H-B Woodlawn. APS moved to a new content filter in the beginning of September. Filtering is now done by policy: default – everything is blockedhigh school student – can access some videos on You Tubestaff – can access some videos on YouTube, Facebook and other sites The system must know who you are to apply the correct policy. This is accomplished by logging in to OneLogin, connecting to APS wifi, etc.
Even though you may be in Google or Synergy, you may need to log into something to authenticate with the system. One thing you can do is go to access.apsva.us and select “Change Password” under the Resources tab. Occasionally when you go to YouTube you will be given a white login screen. If you are trying to watch a video embedded on a website but all you see is a blank box where the video should be, try logging in to OneLogin in a separate window then return to the page. The Content Filter is restricting YouTube videos to ones with a moderate or safe rating. Contact Us – PowerSchool Assessment & Analytics. PowerSchool Assessment & Analytics. APS Formative Assessment.

The date and time of chats is determined by the organizer of the chat. A lot of times they poll those on the hashtag about what day and time they would prefer. Most chats are held once a week. There are exceptions such as #mathchat which has a rerun on another day. Some chats will occur twice in the same day to aid different time zones.
Some of these chats are: #edchat, and #ELTchat In most chats there is a poll set up a few days before the actual chat. For #edchat (held on Tuesdays at noon EST (mainly for those outside the US) and the second one is 7 pm EST) where I am a proud member of the moderator team we have a poll on Sunday. The key is to get people to use the chat hashtag to stay in contact during the week. The moderator of the chat facilitates the topic. Most chats allow you to share information and sites that are pertinent to the topic. Moderator Tip Be the last person to vote before the poll closes to prevent a tie.
