DESIGN BLOK 2010 aneb GOODxFOOD s kouskem No ne..=) ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITIONS. Calatrava`s museum of tomorrow. Rio de Janeiro is about to host a number of important events. That is why the municipal corporation decided to renew the city, not only public area will be rebuild but new iconic buildings will be constructed as well. One of the new icons could become the Museum of tomorrow designed by one of the most famous architects of the century – Santiago Calatrava. Pier Maua is the location where several buildings, places, gardens and pools should be build. This sustainable complex should represent the new direction for architecture and show the future in eco-friendly buildings. In the words of architect Calatrava, it is supposed to be a live museum that will serve for pedagogic activities. Photos: archrecord.construction.com. As Arquitetas.

Residential. PlaceMaking. Beyond Oscar. Deco Ama. House T by Tsukano Architect Office. A narrow vertical slice at one corner is the only interruption to the monolithic facade of this plain white house in Miyazaki, Japan, by Hiroshima studio Tsukano Architect Office (+ slideshow). Designed with a simple rectilinear shape, the austere two-storey residence has a single window slotted into its narrow opening, as well as a dark corridor that leads down inside. A door at the end of the corridor opens into the house's dining room, set around a metre below ground level, where a large window reveals a courtyard concealed behind the blank facade. This courtyard spans the width of the building and is overlooked by every room inside. Its surface is at the same level as the ground outside the walls, but it also lines up with worktops in the kitchen and a concrete breakfast bar in the dining room.

Surfaces are finished in a mixture of exposed concrete, timber panels and white plaster. House T is one of the first completed projects by Tsukano Architect Office. House-T Above: first floor plan. Strange and Gorgeous Houses Built on Rooftops. Yeah, the Hong Kong ones look like they're on the verge of ending up on the ground floor. sometimes they do, when big typhoons hit HK. most of them are not much different than squatter houses, built with a mix of corrugated aluminum panels and pieces of plywood and acrylic. sometimes walls are built with single layer bricks, but the roofs aren't always very well attached, and metal roofing turns the inside into an oven during the summer. like this ground level "wood house village" in Pok Fu Lam. which is a little more modern, and the residents here even put in air conditioners and barbeques on the roof patios, along with lots of potted plants.

EEL Nakameguro | Schemata Architects / Jo Nagasaka. EEL Nakameguro Creating a sense of ‘incompleteness’ –was the key to our design. In my mind clothes are associated with warmth of human body-sometimes that feeling gets too intense and uncomfortably hot.

This is why I want to make the background as calm as possible. We intend to leave this space somewhat incomplete-and when clothes are set in place it will be complete. So our construction process was mostly ‘subtraction’-that is, dismantling, peeling, and scraping unnecessary layers-except for a few ‘additional’ elements. The site was formerly used as office space. For the floor, we peeled off the existing carpet and sanded exposed mortar undercoat thoroughly to make it perfectly horizontal and ‘super-flat’.
