So some pedigree right there, and the Dirty Knobs project was established in 2008 to allow a rougher edge to the normal material, deriving the influences and sound from real old school rock such as The Kinks, The Animals, Rolling Stones and early Led Zeppelin. Wreckless Abandon, the highly anticipated debut album from celebrated guitarist and songwriter Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac) and his band The Dirty Knobs, is now set for release on November 20.The band have just debuted their new track, “Fuck That Guy,” The new video features actor and comedian Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm) as well as actor Danny Trejo and was directed by Gilbert Trejo (X, Pixies, DIIV).
Campbell says, “‘Fuck That Guy’ is a simple song that could really be about anyone you know. The video is a bizarre and darkly humorous take on 2020. It’s been a hard year. It helps to just laugh. The Dirty Knobs are led by Mike Campbell, a talented guitarist and songwriter you might recognize from bands such as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Fleetwood Mac, so there are definitely reminiscent bits of the past in their music. They’ve actually been around for 15 years, but never did any shows outside of LA or even released an album, and now Mike is branching out and embracing The Dirty Knobs as his primary project. After playing together for so many years, they’re releasing a long-awaited debut album which contains their recently released single ‘Fuck That Guy.’ It’s a ridiculously catchy, and while it was written with the intention to be about, well, anybody really, the boys in The Dirty Knobs aimed it at the Coronavirus.
