While you may be bored out of your mind that boredom will be eased a little this weekend as the almighty Behemoth live stream themselves playing in a Polish Church. While the irony of such a thing makes this a spectacle that nobody should miss the fact that the band themselves seem bored to the back teeth having been lockdown themselves and are looking to unleash their fury means that this has the making of a gig that is going to go down in history. With all that in the back of our minds though it came as a bit of a surprise when we spoke to frontman Nergal that he originally was not a fan of the concept. “First of all I didn’t really want to do it,” he says after thinking for a second.

Behemoth frontman Nergal has shared a few choice, albeit tough, words of encouragement to musicians living through the coronavirus pandemic.
Coronavirus has unearthed the music industry as we know it. With touring and live performance all but obliterated, many musicians have fallen into a place of financial insecurity. As I Lost My Gig, reports concert cancellations and postponements across Australia and NZ have cost more than $340 million — a statistic that hasn’t been updated since April. In a new interview with Knotfest, Nergal has delved into the coronavirus crisis, offering an optimistic take on the situation and some words of tough love for his music contemporaries. When asked about when he believes live music will return, Nergal shared, “I’m an optimist, but I’m also a big realist. “I think maybe full-on we’re back in business in 2022, which I hope for.

So, the time has come for the second Australian installment of the huge music festival that is Download, and for the first time, the entourage makes its way to Sydney, Australia on the back of a super successful first year where it was exclusive to Melbourne only. 2019 sees the festival being performed at both Sydney and Melbourne. I arrived shortly before 11 am for a midday start and immediately one could see that this was going to be huge in every sense of the word, with an enormous crowd swarming toward the gates! The weather forecast was for a 70% chance of rain along with thunderstorms in the afternoon, this was going to be interesting! No rain at midday and so Voyager from Perth, Australia kicked off the festival in dry conditions on the Main Stage Red.
