The hiring of staff for full-time city-funded positions at the Los Angeles Zoo is governed by the Civil Service Selection Process. The system was created to provide a fair, equitable, and job-related way for applicants to compete for jobs with the City of Los Angeles. All applicants who are interested in full-time employment with the City must pass a Civil Service examination, the requirements of which are established by the City's Personnel Department in conjunction with the Zoo. Zoo staff interviews eligible candidates and chooses the candidate to fill the position.
