Infused Sugar. I've been seeing infused sugars on Pinterest for a while now.

Infused Sugar

We call them "fancy sugars". I didn't think it was something I'd be interested in until I had some on a grapefruit piece in New York and I was like, "WHOA... ok, I get it now". Fancy sugar, it's a thing. This isn't really a tutorial. I just thought it would be fun to share our first sugar infusing experience. We tried four flavors- lavender, vanilla, rose and orange. The results were super interesting and not what I expected. Vanilla wins! There are so many uses for these sugars... tea, coffee, fruit, rimming cocktails and we really really really want to use the lavender sugar to make homemade sugared donuts. DIY: Pop-Up Bouquet Card. With Mother's Day just around the corner, an extra-lovely handmade card seemed like the perfect thing to share.

DIY: Pop-Up Bouquet Card

Here's a little peek at what's blooming inside that oh-so simple exterior! A washi tape version of this gorgeous 7 flower pop-up card. Start by spelling out your message in washi tape letters - apply your tape to parchment or waxed paper, cut out the desired letters and stick to the front of a blank card. Fiddly work but oh so worth the effort! Cut seven squares of plain paper - each should be approximately 4" (10cm). Make photographic fabric prints with Inkodye.

I played around some more with Inkodye, the permanent, water-based dye that develops its color in sunlight.

DIY Paper Feathers

We made over-sized paper flowers in bright pinks and plums and added some huge paper feathers into the mix to finish the over-the-top look. They were so pretty I knew I had to create a post for you on making a smaller version of these simple paper feathers. You can use them for gift toppers, a wedding boutonniere, put a few in a shadow box to hang on your wall, or. . . make a paper feather wreath for your summertime decor. Stay tuned for the wreath post later this week. DIY Laundry Soap - One Year Review & Recipe - lizmarieblog.com.

Last year around this time I made my very first batch of DIY laundry soap.

DIY Laundry Soap - One Year Review & Recipe - lizmarieblog.com

I had researched it online before I made it & combined a few different recipes that I had found to make my own laundry detergent. I really didn’t think that it would last me a year like the posts I read had said, but it did & I loved it along the way! It got me through countless dirty baseball uniforms, stinky gym clothes, paint messes, military uniforms, & stains of all sorts. You can see the original recipe {here}. There were a few things I wanted to change about this new recipe after a year of using it & learning the positives and negatives of my original recipe.
