Sheffield City Council - Peer review. Electricity Transmission Costing Study - report and appendices. The Electricity Transmission Costing Study report by Parsons Brinckerhoff and Associates was launched to Parliamentarians and the public on 31 January 2012.
It was well received, and there has now been time to produce a ‘hyperlink’ version to assist readers who view the document on-screen. The authors and the Project Board have taken the opportunity to include some minor changes to reflect a number of comments received, which are gratefully acknowledged. The comments have led to some explanations being slightly reworded and a few references being corrected. Some minor changes to the bars on the Cost Sensitivities charts – the blue and yellow bar-charts in Section 7 of the main report – have also been made, to more properly include lifetime costs in the sensitivities. Please note that this PDF contains both the report and appendices.

UK Gas and Electricity Industry. The UK Energy Industry is split into three distinct parts: Suppliers - the companies who supply and sell electricity and gas.
From a customer perspective the suppliers are the most important group as these are the real contacts the customer will have with the energy industry. Distributors - the distribution companies are responsible for getting the energy to you. This means that they are responsible for the pipes or cables in the road and the meters within your property.
The suppliers effectively have contracts with the distributors to provide these services and all of these costs are already included in whatever price the supplier asks you to pay. Generators - just as the name suggests the generators are responsible for generating the energy we use in our homes and businesses. All customers, regardless whether they are domestic, commercial, or industrial have been able to change their gas or electricity supplier since May 1999. National Grid: Electricity Market Information.
