Is Black a Color? Is White a Color? The answer to the question - "Are black and white colors?" - is one of the most debated issues about color. Ask a scientist and you'll get a reply based on physics: “Black is not a color, white is a color.” Ask an artist or a child with crayons and you'll get another: “Black is a color, white is not a color.”

Why do people say that cats have nine lives?

Some people believe in the superstition that cats have nine lives, because cats can survive falls from high places with few, if any injuries. This gives the appearance that the cats return to life after sustaining a fatal accidents. Granted, they may sustain minor injuries, such as bloody noses, cracked teeth, or a few broken ribs, but they live to recover. The ability of the cat to survive these accidents that would kill humans or other animals is not due to multiple lives, but to several advantages they possess. Their small size and low body weight soften the impact as they make contact with the ground after falling from great heights. The highly developed inner ears of cats equip them with an unusually keen sense of balance, which is critical to their landing on their feet. http://www.coolquiz.com/trivia/explain/docs/cats2.asp

The World's Heaviest Animals

[more Top-10 Lists ] To be technically correct, the top 10 animals of this list should be all whales, as there are a lot of different whale species which would all be heavier than the African Elephant. Just to make this list more varied, they have not been included. The Whale Shark is included, as it is not a whale, but a shark. (I have included two types of elephant anyway). http://www.thetravelalmanac.com/lists/animals-weight.htm

Scientists have found evidence of flowing salt water on steep Martian slopes, which if confirmed would be the first discovery of active liquid water on the red planet, NASA has said. The US space agency said the orbiter circling Mars since 2006 had monitored numerous instances of what appeared to be water flows occurring in several locations during the Martian spring and summer. No liquid water has been found on Mars, though ice has been discovered at the poles. All life forms need water to survive, so the existence of a water source could point to a haven for primitive life. Frozen water has been detected in some of Mars's higher latitudes, and other evidence has suggested that water interacted with the Martian surface throughout the planet's history. http://mails.forwards4all.com/water-on-mars.html
