Le Mellotron música simple para gente complicada.
Bands covering hip hop isn’t as unwieldy an idea as it sounds, so how do almost every band get it wrong? This question is left rightly unanswered in this Eminem cover which is less Straight Outta Compton, and more Sliding Hopelessly Into Comedy. More importantly, just how much does Danny from The Script truly believe he actually is Eminem? This cover explains, patiently and horribly, the dangers of non-committance. You see, Script singer Danny just isn’t sure if he’s ready to commit into full-blown Gangster mode; fearful, perhaps that donning a do-rag, a platinum grill and a splash of tattoos honouring fallen homies might alienate his core audience of middle-aged aunties. For reasons best unexplored, Danny communicates this indecision via the much-maligned medium of interpretive hand-mime.

It was camp enough to begin with, but Jimi Somerville and Sarah Jane Morris's triumphant falsetto-basso profundo duet on this cover of the 1975 disco classic takes the phrase "row of tents" and flings it in the air like a glittery handbag on an underlit dancefloor. One suspects that the singers swapped voices for a laugh. Key moment: The final, monumental "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah BABY!" just before the last chorus. Woodstock star Havens caused barely a ripple in 1980 with his impassioned rendition of a song first recorded by Lamont Dozier.

Cover vs. Original - The big song contest
Nowadays life without cover songs is hard to imagine. Permanently we run into these remakes while we listen to the radio and sometimes we even don't know that this song has existed for a long time and is now only covered in a rough-and-ready way. Mostly the original versions are much better, but they were not played in the radio any more. However, sometimes an artist makes it not only to copy the original song, but also improves it drastically.Once and a while we come across people that are walking encyclopedia of music knowledge, and sometimes we're lucky enough that they want to join our team. Ladies and gentlemen, we're very proud to anounce you our latest editor: SlimD! His music taste ranges from country & western music to jazz, folk, classical and gospel. He'a also particularly fond of contemporary music with a "roots" base, think of Paul Simon. His extensive knowledge of pre-1960s recordings will be highly complementary with the other team members specialties.

The Best Cover Songs - The Covers Project
We're building the web's best database of cover songs ! Even better, we're following the path of their influence by building cover chains (a set of songs in which each song is a cover of a song by the artist who covered the preceding song). The Covers Project is powered by YOU, so help us out by adding new songs .Logo Sampleur-Samplé est fier de vous présenter son nouveau logo cuvée 2010.. Well, half of the '90s hip-hop duo, that is. Today (March 27th), Gift of Gab (aka Gabby T) is to release his 3rd solo album, 'The Next Logical Progression'. The sound is deliciously old school and features a rich funk montage. Piano loops abound, as do a Motown chorus, the occasional record scratch and even a spaceship-like pew-pew every now and then. And that's just the beginning. Perhaps the album is in fact a “natural progression” from Gift of Gab’s work with producer Chief Xcel under the name of Blackalicious .

Playlists Reprises & Samples
