Organizing Tights. Guess how I spent my weekend!! Organizing my closet! Jealous? Ok, being honest, I didn't really organize my closet, I just worked on hanging my tights nicely. It took all of five minutes and then I gave up on the closet for the rest of the weekend. I had previously stored my tights in a drawer, but I always had a hard time finding the pair I was looking for. I'm the type of person that needs to see everything right in front of me. I actually have more closet space than drawer space so this hanger technique is perfect for me!

After removing the knobs I used the pencil around my homemade stencil in all of the areas where the knobs were. After that I used the pencil and drew around the metal brackets as the stencil for the where my faux finish brackets would go. Next I used the liquid leaf brass finish paint and painted in the stenciled areas let this dry awhile between coats ( I did 2 coats) also the paint is watery thin so wipe the brush off thoroughly between dipping. After everything was dry I went back in with some black paint I had around the house and added what looks like screws or studs for the brackets to look more realistic.

Then I touched up all the scratches from the last 4 years with the sharpie, let everything dry , put back on the hardware and VIOLA! Ikea Furniture Redo & Nook Makeover. Our kitchen table and buffet are from Ikea. When I purchased this furniture I thought it would do for a few years until I could get what I really wanted. We were in a new house and what I really wanted at that time was something that matched and was affordable. It is from the Leksvik line and is pine. The table was less than $200 and the buffet was only $99 as I purchased at a damaged box sale. I've never *loved* this furniture (nor has hubby, he hates Ikea) but replacing it has never been a priority. I took a couple days break after finishing the table before starting on the buffet, which took much longer due to the doors, drawers, and shelves.

Anyways, I finally finished a little over a week ago and got it back into place. My husband hung a new drum pendant to complete the nook makeover. Although I finished this more than a week ago I'm linking to Primitive & Proper's Piece of Work Wednesday (I didn't get a chance last week).
