What You Will Need: -Old T-Shirt -Good Scissors Step 1: Go through your old T-shirts and find a daring print or color combo. For a cleaner look, choose a solid. Step 2: Cut horizontally across the shirt, just below the armholes, to create a rectangular tube. Step 3: Working your way around the tube, make a series of vertical cuts that extend from the raw edge upward. Step 4: Tug down on each strand to elongate it. And this version reminds me of being a kid, with a grown-up twist. Did you ever make those tissue paper flowers in grade school? You know, where you fold them up like a fan and then pull the petals back? Yep, that’s what we’re doing here! But by using paper napkins, instead of tissue paper, the flowers have a more structured hold. They almost look like fabric. And the white ones look like real magnolias to me. These are very easy to make and add a lovely touch to any sort of Celebration or even your day-to-day decor. Let’s get started! I used nice 3-ply, party-style paper napkins for this project. I purchased my napkins at IKEA because they usually have unique colors, such as the Chartreuse below. You can use any size of napkin you’d like but I really liked the large over-sized look for a wall, so I used the largest size IKEA napkins (and some smaller ones for the centers). Okay, no rocket science here.
Grab about 4 Large napkins: Should look like this: MADE: TUTORIAL: Heartbreaker Valentines. Who said valentines were only red and pink? I chose to print on bright colored paper so the Heartbreakers work for both boys and girls. Another option: print to white paper and let the your kids color the hearts themselves: Most of all, make sure your kids check out what you’re doing. Staple around the outside of each heart, leaving an opening at the top of the heart for inserting candy (or, use your sewing machine to sew around the edge…though it might be more difficult to sew it shut. T-Shirt Bracelets | Family Chic. SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2011 | Comments: 45 Brightly colored t-shirts that are too small for my daughters now, have found new life as bracelets. For this project you will need some old t-shirts and a bunch of bangle bracelets. Try using old bangles that you already own, check thrift stores or pick up some up for a few dollars at Target, Walmart – or even the sale bins at Old Navy. Cut t-shirt in 1/2" to 1" wide strips. Depending on the thickness of the bangle – a thick bracelet will need thicker strips. Loosely tie one end of the t-shirt strip to the bangle and start wrapping fabric around bracelet – the tighter the better. Wrap fabric all the way around until you meet the first knot – untie the knot and tie both ends together to close.
I found this technique worked well for us – but you could also use a glue gun to secure ends. We made a ton of these bracelets this morning – my daughters really enjoyed it. . * Getting the first and last stitches done are the most difficult, so watch these videos for help. . * Using your pliers, open a link in your chain . . . * . . . and loop it through one {or two} of the loops at the end knot. You knew i was going to make one. They are all over pinterest.... (i still am not signed up for pinterest because i don't have time for one more thing but browsing is fun!) So we made one. i took a box of 64 crayons and took out the blacks and browns.i used another small box and doubled up on the good colors i liked and hot glued them to the top of our canvas. then we turned our blow dryer to hot on high. not long after you set the hair dryer by the crayons they get shiny and then the wax starts to melt!
It's practically instant gratification. and it dries really quickly too. seriously. what could be happier than this?? But I didn't realize how simple it is to build your own and still make it look sleek and expensive.
Isn't it lovely? The project involves taking a few small spindly twigs and attaching them one long straight branch with copper wiring.
