Apps to Use as Student ePortfolios. I have yet to find the perfect Digital Portfolio app that I think I would use exclusively in a Visual Arts class. Some apps can be used as graphic portfolios or as beautiful sketchbooks, others are great at sharing. Not all of the apps available are great at all of these things. I have spent a heap of time trying to find one and would be more than happy for someone to send me the name of one they are using successfully. Having said that the following are apps that I would consider using; Evernote: FREE Evernote is an easy-to-use, free app that helps you remember everything across all of the devices you use.

Stay organized, save your ideas and improve productivity. Evernote lets you take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, record voice reminders--and makes these notes completely searchable, whether you are at home, at work, or on the go. Paper: FREE Paper is an easy and beautiful way to create on iPad. ePortfolio Step-by-Step Process - ePortfolios with GoogleApps. Students: (Optional) Use a simple table or GoogleDocs Spreadsheet to list the artifacts, and assign (classify) each one to the outcome/goal/standard that the artifact will demonstrate. Use the table to keep track of artifacts that might be stored on one of the many Web 2.0 sites that you could use to store your work. See Dr. Barrett’s portfolio for an example (Artifacts in GoogleDocs Spreadsheet).Recommendation: Students: convert all attached artifacts into web-compatible formats (JPEG or PDF) so that the potential reader will not need to own the original software in order to read it (i.e., Microsoft Office, Publisher, Inspiration documents could easily be converted into PDF and attached to a blog entry, or link to GoogleDocs).

Web 2.0 storage: Video files can be saved on one of the video sharing sites, and use the Hyperlink or Embed code to include in your blog entry. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files could be uploaded into GoogleDocs. Amanda Fletcher's Electronic Teaching Portfolio: Experiences Teaching Math. While student teaching in Ann Arbor Public Schools, I had the opportunity to teach mathematics to my first-grade class using the Everyday Mathematics Curriculum.

The students in my class were involved in sharing ideas through discussions. These discussions focused on the idea that students gain important mathematical insights by building on discoveries. The discussions created good listening habits and a receptive attitude toward the ideas of others. Students were constantly talking about how they solved a problem and what they are thinking mathematically. By discussing their thoughts, they were clarifying and solidifying their learning. Going further, I taught using games suggested by the Everyday Math curriculum along with math games that I created to make learning fun for students. Even though I may not be using this particular mathematics curriculum again, I feel that the knowledge I gained through working with it was invaluable. Back to My Student Teaching Experience Page.

How can I develop a student or teacher portfolio? How can text, photos, diagrams, audio, video and other multimedia elements be integrated into a portfolio? Electronic Portfolios are a creative means of organizing, summarizing, and sharing artifacts, information, and ideas about teaching and/or learning, along with personal and professional growth.

The reflective process of portfolio development can be as important as the final product. In many cases, they are used as part of faculty and student evaluation along with other assessment tools such as standardized tests. A portfolio is a sampling of the breadth and depth of a person's work conveying the range of abilities, attitudes, experiences, and achievements.
