Fondé en février 2008, le think tank de gauche et plutôt proche du PS, qui propose ni plus ni moins, de «favoriser la rénovation intellectuelle de la social-démocratie» produit aussi «de l'expertise et des solutions politiques opérationnelles». Et se verrait bien en pourvoyeur de têtes bien faites pour les cabinets ministériels. «On a contribué à la victoire de la gauche», s'est félicité lundi matin devant des journalistes, Olivier Ferrand, le président de Terra Nova, qui n'en revenait pas lui même. «C'est la première fois que je vote pour un président de gauche, en 1988, j'étais trop jeune.» En clair, depuis sa création et surtout depuis un an, dans le cadre de la campagne présidentielle, le think tank fournit notes sur notes. «Une partie d'entre eux vont aller en cabinet, souligne Ferrand, lui même candidat socialiste aux législatives dans les Bouches-du-Rhône.

Mr Melenchon says he will stand in the working-class town of Henin-Beaumont, near Calais, where Ms Le Pen resides. Ms Le Pen's National Front won more than 30% of votes in the town in the first round of the presidential poll.
In that poll, Mr Melenchon won 11% of the vote, achieving fourth position behind Ms Le Pen. "I am coming here because there is a battle which has a national significance and, if I may say so, an international one too because all eyes are upon us in Europe," Mr Melenchon, leader of the Left Front party, told supporters in Henin-Beaumont.
