This is pure melt in your mouth goodness!!! I was so happy how this turned out. I love broccoli so I may be a little bias...
This is the greatest idea I have ever seen. What a find! The author says they last about 7 days in the refrigerator. Done in quart wide mouth mason jars.
These are individual-sized pies made in little glass jars that can go straight from your freezer to your oven to your mouth. SO cute. You can make these with store-bought crust and canned filling or jazz it up with homemade like we do. And just for added cuteness we teamed up with crafting expert Lolly for some personalized tags. These are just about the best little gift from the kitchen you could share with someone!
A guacamole grilled cheese sandwich has been on my to try list for a while now and since I was making the bacon guacamole on the weekend I figured I would just pick up double the ingredients and make both. The basic idea behind this grilled cheese is quite simple and it started out with just adding guacamole to a grilled cheese but with the success of combining salty bacon-y magnificence with cool and creamy guacamole I could not resist adding a few slices of bacon to the sandwich. I also had some leftover corn tortilla chips from dipping on the weekend so I decided to crumble a few of them and add them to the sandwich for texture. Like all grilled cheese sandwiches this one is pretty easy to make though you want to try to remember to pull the guacamole out of the fridge early so that it can come up to room temperature before adding it to the sandwich.
I feel kinda bad about this recipe. Heath LOVES Mexican food, and enchiladas are his favorite. I had this recipe sitting in my Pinterest Dinner folder for quite some time when I decided to finally make it for him. Unfortunately he had to leave town a few days earlier than expected (one of his boats is up in Norfolk getting re-fit, so every 4-6 weeks he has to spend a week up there overseeing the progress). I couldn't put off making this.
Last week, a friend of mine said that she really wanted some s'mores cookies. We talked about how you could combine the graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallows of s'mores into cookies. I knew that adding marshmallows directly to the dough would probably not work after past attempts to make chocolate chip marshmallow muffins. For the muffins, we eventually figured out that adding the marshmallows part way through the baking worked. Today, I decided to search the web to see if anyone had come up with a good s'mores cookie recipe. The first blog that came up on google was Anna's Cookie Madness which had an awesome looking recipe for S'mores Cookies .
Greeeeeeeen!! You gotta get your GREENS !! (Even if the greens are hidden like in the smoothie pictured above!
Crock Pot Honey Sesame Chicken Last Friday my hubby stumbled home from a weeklong business trip, tired of working and traveling, and wanting home cookin’. Poor guy had to eat steaks and sushi all week on the company dime.
It seems like I blinked and now the end of summer is here. (Can I let you in on a little secret? I’m looking forward to summer ending. Fall — ahem, Autumn , which happens to be my niece’s name — is my favorite season for a million reasons, not least of which are chilly temps, cozy sweaters, and warm mulled cider, but I am also head-over-heels in love with winter. And yes, when I tell people that, the most common question I get is Really? Lol, yes, really.)
I have a sweet tooth, let’s call her … Shugar (with an h). Shugar frequently compels me to make all manner of cakes, cookies, pies—you get the drift. However, I also have a spicy tooth. (Is that a real term? I’m not sure, but I’m going with it.) Let’s call him … Pepper Jack.
One of the few things that can rival my love of veggies, is my love of cheese. If it came down to choosing between 6-pack abs and a daily serving [ or three ] of cheese, I'd choose the cheese. Hands-down.
Shish taouk -- Middle Eastern garlic chicken on skewers -- launched my food writing career more than twenty years ago, and it's still one of my all-time favorite dishes to cook on the grill. Except this summer, when it's been so hot and humid, I haven't wanted to stand outside next to a blazing hot grill, not even for the sake of chicken. Once again, the slow cooker has come to the rescue, producing this very good adaptation of garlic chicken in a shredded form suitable for stuffing into pitas, tortillas or lavash wraps. The kitchen stays cool, and my husband Ted and I can get our garlic chicken fix even in the warmest weather. I use boneless, skinless chicken breasts; chicken thighs will work equally well. Serve with chopped lettuce and tomato, add some cucumber if you like, and top it all, as we do, with your favorite buttermilk ranch dressing .

I just realized we are almost halfway through with summer and while I should be totally stoked about this — seeing as we’re melting through our fourth heatwave so far this summer in NYC and given what awesome things are in store for the fall — I am spectacularly bummed as I am just getting used to having an avalanche of delicious summer produce at my disposal and haven’t had time to do half of what I wanted to with it yet. Plus, this guy turns three at the end of the summer and I can’t, I won’t accept it. More time, please! For everything. I missed you last week, a crazy week that did not entail, as hinted , a vacation but the heard-it-all-before-so-I’ll-spare-you tune about too much to do and too little time.
This curry leaves in its wake a group of dazed people wandering around aimlessly with empty bowls muttering, "No more curry? No more curry?" It's a little sweet with a great kick and lots of flavor. A glass of rioja would go nicely. Please try to use fresh garlic, ginger, and lemon juice.
