'To' is an infinitive marker in the sentence under discussion, not a preposition. It is often used in this way to express purpose or intention, not the prevention of an action. by Mar 6
The problem with viewing grammatical/spelling errors as 'unforgiveable' (sic), describing people who make grammatical errors as neanderthals (sic), or claiming to be a 'grammar Nazi', is that you need to be very careful not to make any mistakes yourself. And what counts as a mistake? Some people would claim that starting a sentence with a coordinating conjunction is unforgivable. Personally, I don't mind.
