If this had been launched on the 1st April it would have been a good April fools. According to its website, the ProDesk3D is the first 3D desktop printer to offer true full color printing for home and business. botObjects' co-founders, Mike Duma (CTO) and Martin Warner (CEO) claim that "Just like normal ink printers, the ProDesk3D uses its proprietary 5-colour PLA cartridge system, capable of mixing primary printing colors to generate the colors of choice for the object you wish to print. " Other features according to the founders: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Other technical specifications as well as images of a full colour print are not yet revealed but it is expected the ProDesk3D will be launched in June. Robot Factory develops new high resolution 3DLPrinter. Mar.20, 2013 The 3D community is formed around Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) type printers, but if makers need high resolution solutions, resin-based 3D printing is a better choice.

A new 3D printing option is 3DLPrinter, developed by Robot Factory in Italy. As a complement and extension of the 3D-ONE printer the 3DLPrinter is designed to meet the future demands for precision and miniaturization. DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a 3D printing technique using light to solidify a liquid photopolymer. The projected image hardens a layer of resin at a time until the entire 3D model has been realized. The 3DLPrinter has been engineered with a particularly stable, robust and compact structure.

Pirate3D aims to bring affordable 3D printing to the masses. Mar.25, 2013 Five years ago when Brendan Goh and Tsang You Jun took part in a business competition for a project to make a prototype of a milk bottle which changed colour depending on the temperature of its contents, they experienced a big problem, prototyping.

Prototypes cost $1,000 and took many weeks (months sometimes) for one prototype to be made in China. Irritated at this process, Brendan Goh and Tsang You Jun, two young students at NanYang Technological University started looking for cheaper alternatives. "We bought a reprap which was terrible and broke down so frequently and then finally put down $2000+ for an Ultimaker. " says the team. "While it made the most beautiful prints (way better than the MakerBot) and still does, it was unreliable because of the parts it was made off and it was extremely sensitive to the environment and being moved around.

Fully expandable RigidBot 3D Printer reaches funding goal in one day. Mar.27, 2013 A sturdy, customizable 3D printer RigidBot is just launched on Kickstarter.

Fully expandable RigidBot 3D Printer reaches funding goal in one day

Designed by Provo, UT based Michael Lundwall, RigidBot is customizable and fully expandable in the X, Y and Z directions to fit all your individual prototyping needs. "Using the injection molded plastic joints, you can adjust the size by swaping out the metal bars with longer or shorter ones. " says Lundwall. The design of RigidBot 3D Printer based off of the RepRap 3D printers and remains simple and clean.
