India Ferry Capsizes: More Than 100 Bodies Pulled From Brahmaputra River. BURABURI, India — Rescuers on Tuesday had recovered 103 bodies from a turbulent northeastern river after a heavily packed ferry capsized, saying they feared that dozens of others had been swept by the current to neighboring Bangladesh. The overloaded ferry overturned and broke into two pieces in stormy weather late Monday. About 100 people were still missing Tuesday evening. Abdul Mazid, a local villager, was among grieving relatives and survivors gathered on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Assam state.

He had rushed there soon after the boat ferrying about 350 people – including his sister – capsized. Rescuers said they feared that the swift-moving currents had carried dozens of bodies downstream into neighboring Bangladesh. The ferry was a daily service that connected several small riverside villages and islands to the main district town. Hasnat Ali said that he had been on the roof as the vessel headed to shore to dock when a storm hit. Homophobic? Maybe you're gay: The New York Times on a new study of secret sexuality.

Photograph by Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic. Why have some of the nation's most vehement anti-gay activists—Ted Haggard, Larry Craig—had gay sex scandals of their own? An op-ed in the New York Times' Sunday Review section tries to explain. The authors of the piece, two research psychologists, say they have "empirical evidence that homophobia can result, at least in part, from the suppression of same-sex desire. " Their argument—summed up in the Times headline as "Homophobic? The new study works like an elaborate game of "homo say what? " Many researchers have used setups like this one—known as an "implicit association test"—to dig up evidence of covert inclinations or even racial prejudice. Applying this logic, the researchers found that among the college freshmen in their study, more than one-fifth of those who described themselves as very straight showed signs of covert homosexuality on the me-cued trials.

March 22 is World Water Day, a time to reflect on the state of the world's freshwater. The Colorado River is one of the most used and contested waterways on Earth.

It provides water for 30 million people, and has many dams and diversions along its 1,450 miles (2,333 kilometers). Because it is so heavily tapped for agriculture, industry, and municipal uses along its course, the Colorado River rarely reaches its delta and the Gulf of California. —Brian Clark Howard Related: Explore the Colorado River (Map) and pledge to help put water back in the river. A new Gallup poll finds 50 percent of Americans polled have a "favorable" view of the presumptive Republican nominee—an 11-point jump since February.

According to Gallup, that's the highest favorable rating the poll has recorded since they began tracking opinions about Romney in 2006. Romney's favorable rating is 2 points lower than that of President Barack Obama—which currently sits at 52 percent. But more Americans view Obama unfavorably: 46 percent, compared to Romney's 41 percent. Romney's increasing favorable numbers appear to be fueled by his growing popularity with Republicans and self-described independents.

Among Republicans, Romney's favorable number has jumped 22 points since February to 87 percent. But Romney still lags behind other past party nominees in terms of popularity.
