Kris Kuksi : Home

“A post-industrial Rococo master, Kris Kuksi obsessively arranges characters and architecture in asymmetric compositions with an exquisite sense of drama. Instead of stones and shells he uses screaming plastic soldiers, miniature engine blocks, towering spires and assorted debris to form his landscapes. The political, spiritual and material conflict within these shrines is enacted under the calm gaze of remote deities and august statuary. Kuksi manages to evoke, at once, a sanctum and a mausoleum for our suffocated spirit.”
Kurt Vonnegut- we miss him very much. We were just getting to know him!! Now, Hardly 3 years after his death, some wretched, asinine School Board in a place ominously called Republic, Missouri- has voted to ban Kurt's personal first masterpiece, SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE, his very own traumatic experience during the bombing of Dresden during World War II whilst serving in Europe with the US Military.

This print is from a painting from our exhibition at Bold Hype Gallery in NYC, December 2011. Love is not only in the air, but in the water as well! http://www.kozyndan.com/
My childhood was spent immersed in the popular culture that millions of children were exposed to in the post war era of 1950’s America. Between watching the countless horror, sci-fi, war, cartoon, cowboy, and puppet shows that glowed from our black and white TV set, I had my collection of comic books and styrene plastic models to occupy my immature brain. My parents subscription to National Geographic magazine fueled an early passion for prehistoric man and primitive cultures.
