The free iOS app charts are never a let-down when it comes to discovering new up and coming applications. Most of the new appearances this week for both devices breached the top five spots, with a couple from the iPhone also rising on iPad. Games and customization apps dominate the iPhone with most being relatively new releases. As for iPad, television and film showed more growth, but hosted less new apps, and primarily gave rise to older ones hosting recent updates. Rat On A Skateboard — Rat On A Skateboard is the new #1 free iPhone title this week. Developed by Donut Games , a casual online games portal that is actually part of Malmö-based Swedish Game Development, which was founded in 2003, the application is a simple game where users perform extreme skateboarding stunts with Ratty as he rockets down obstacle laden courses.

Once again, the top free iOS charts have changed dramatically as a number of unseen applications make their first appearances on the list. In fact, for both the iPhone and iPad devices, the changes took place within the top ten (top five for iPhone). That noted, most of the iPhone titles this week were older apps — four of which were games – that rose dramatically back into the lime light due to updates or involvement with FreeAppADay . The top 10 iPhone apps again showed a great deal of fluctuation this week. Not all of the apps were particularly new, as many rose by going on sale and becoming free or receiving new content updates. We have to give praise to the new Hanging With Friends iPhone title which not only hit the #2 spots on this week’s top grossing and top paid iPhone apps lists, but also found its way to the top of the free list. Hanging With Friends Free – The folks over at Zynga are making a clean sweep of the top lists this week with the company’s newly released (June 9th) iPhone game, Hanging With Friends , developed by its studio, Zynga With Friends which came out of the Newtoy acquisition. Hanging With Friends Free is an ad-supported version, but it still comes with all the same game play.
