I’ve touched upon this subject before but thought I’d compile a post specifically aimed at bloggers / writers / content creators. Many brands are investing in content like never before. They use blogs and social networks to attract traffic, and to encourage people to share their posts. So what do they need to think about to try to increase the amount of sharing on Twitter? The art of timing your tweets is one of the most important factors in driving retweets. Tweet at the right times
Posted on Tue, 2011-09-13 10:50 Twitter is a powerful platform for websites to share their content, and drive traffic and engagement. However, people have struggled to accurately measure the amount of traffic Twitter is sending to their websites, in part because web analytics software hasn’t evolved as quickly as online sharing and social signals. Today we’re announcing Twitter Web Analytics, a tool that helps website owners understand how much traffic they receive from Twitter and the effectiveness of Twitter integrations on their sites. Twitter Web Analytics was driven by the acquisition of BackType, which we announced in July.
Unfortunately these methods do have their restrictions. For example, if you want to share a link with your friends, with all of these services, but one, you will be forced to include the link in your status update, rather than as a separate link as you can do directly within Facebook. Below is a list of a few of the free methods you can use to schedule your Facebook updates.

Posted on Mon, 2011-08-15 14:51 Photos are a fundamental way that people share context, information, jokes, and personal moments on Twitter. Following last week’s wider release of photos to Twitter.com users, we’re ready to share our media upload API, which will allow developers to conveniently attach an image to a Tweet. We’ll soon incorporate this service into Twitter mobile clients as well.
Earlier this year, Twitter celebrated its 5th anniversary. The social platform now has 200m users, generates over 200m tweets and handles over 1.6bn search queries per day. Twitter is now undoubtedly popular and many businesses use the site as a tool for marketing, PR, branding, engagement, customer service, and much more. Despite this, companies still face barriers to getting the most value from the microblogging site, which is why Econsultancy has produced its first guide to Twitter for Business . If your business isn't using Twitter yet, it's worth considering the value it offers for your organisation.

How to get more Twitter followers is one of the first hurdles you have when you start a new Twitter account. Assuming that you are interested in quality and not just quantity, one of the most effective tactics is what I like to call a follower raid. if 15% of the people who follow Coke-a-Cola follow you back, but 30% of the people who follow McDonalds follow you back, you should raid McDonalds Twitter followers more often … While this name may have a slightly dark or black hat pirate overtone to it (arrrgh), quite simply it’s using other existing accounts in your particular niche and mining through the people who follow them. The first thing I would do is identify your competition in the space (I like to create a private list for this) and start following the accounts that are following them. The next thing to do is identify related or complimentary accounts (again create another private list).
June 15, 2011 Last night while enjoying my third Samba Juice cocktail @SushiSambaChi in Chicago, I had a moment of social media clarity: Twitter is the single-greatest social media tool (yeah, I said it). I was sitting at a table at with seven amazing women I had never met before: architects, designers, producers, entrepreneurs, professors — and all of us were sharing tales from the trenches and some serious laughs. There was no hidden agenda, no crazy self-promotion, just a bunch of powerful women looking to meet other powerful women. #Success .
Apple this week anointed Twitter as a built-in feature of the next version of its mobile platform. The partnership, announced during Apple’s WWDC keynote yesterday, is an obvious diss to Facebook and its Facebook Connect service, which had been Apple’s pick to power social features for iTunes Ping. That deal fell apart last year over what Steve Jobs called “onerous terms,” and relations between the two companies have since been strained.
In a bid to increase its presence across the Web, Twitter today announced the “follow button,” a snippet of code that can be placed on any Web site that allows readers logged into Twitter to click and follow instantly. Previously, a Twitter user would have to click-through to the Web site’s Twitter.com page and click “follow” to achieve the same effect. Users who aren’t logged into Twitter still have to log in before the new account is added to their subscription list.
Twitter has added a new “Top Tweets” search results feature, along with “Top Images” and “Top Videos.” It’s a major shift away from showing Twitter search results where the most recent tweet comes first, regardless of real relevancy or quality. The change is welcome. Unlike regular search engines, which try to show the most relevant matches by default, Twitter has largely followed a “first in, last out” ordering of its search listings which left them open to noise.
Twitter is all about facilitating conversations, but until you're following some people, it's just a blank page. Once you find people to follow and talk to, however, Twitter becomes exceptionally useful. You can share thoughts, ask questions, get updates about news, music, brands, and businesses, and discover helpful links and information.
