Quality reaggregation of learning objects to introduce the WWW and multimedia (Q-Rolo) Download the final report (Word)1 Background The Reusable Learning Object (RLO) paradigm has yet to fulfil its true potential. The reasons for this are rooted in institutional and academic culture. Many educators and managers either don’t know about RLOs, or imagine that there is something dauntingly ‘technical’ about them; and some of those who are aware, will not use them due to IPR concerns – concerns that do not otherwise stop academics from using others’ books. This Project will repopulate a core introductory module introducing Multimedia and the World Wide Web with RLOs, mainly using externally sources learning objects, complemented by institutional and new content.

Aims and Objectives The Project aim is to create a clearly defined case-study that exemplifies the possibility and the benefits of content reuse in Higher Education. Re-using Educational and Vocational Objects for Learning in Virtual Environments (REVOLVE) Background/ContextProject Final Report1 The Re-Using Educational and Vocational Objects for Learning in Virtual Environments (REVOLVE) project aims to deliver a technology-enhanced module delivered by e-learning that uses and repurposes existing materials from a variety of sources. In line with the DfES e-learning strategy which emphasises the need for personalisation of learning experiences, this project intends to offer students some opportunities to personalise their learning input and assessment.

The project will build on parallel and previous re-usable content initiatives such as the work at the RLO-CETL, the JISC funded Sharing the Load project as well as the FDTL5 project E-Evolve2 which has created in excess of 50 re-usable learning objects. The Module to be developed will be a new module for final year undergraduate students in the Business and Management subject area. Aims and Objectives Project Methodology The project will be split into 4 main phases: Deliverables Stakeholders. ROCOCO. Background Project Final Report is now available1 This project has four themes: The development of re-usable generic postgraduate Research Methods content incorporating examples of research methods best practiceModules can be customised at the point of delivery by including appropriate additional disciplinary content, so a 'Common Spine' or 'Common Core' of content with a subject-specific 'Wrapper'Specific integration needs of international students with a different prior learning culture and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) issues can be met via a front-end packageBlended learning delivery supports large cohort groups of diverse learners offering back-up material for re-use by students Aims & Objectives The aim of this project is to test the hypothesis that a Common Core Approach to module design can work with an audience of Doctoral level student learners, specifically helping them to complete their research degree proposals.

The objectives are to: Methodology Deliverables Stakeholders. Psychology at Heythrop (PSYCHE) Background/Context Project Final Report is now available1 Psychology at Heythrop (PSYCHE) is a project of the Psychology Group at Heythrop College, University of London to develop two technology assisted 15 credit modules “Research Methods and Statistics for Psychology 1 & 2” with at least 50% of the material coming from pre-existing content external to Heythrop College. The project will also develop guidelines and case studies, as appropriate, to disseminate the lessons learned both within the University and to the wider HE community. Heythrop College is embracing e-learning as a part of its strategy for learning, teaching and assessment, having recently completed an e-learning trial across psychology, theology, and philosophy departments, developing blended learning courses, and committed to develop the University of London external BD online.

Aims and Objectives Project Methodology The PSYCHE project will be undertaken in the following broad stages: Deliverables Stakeholders Project Staff. Online Research Methods Module (ORM) Download the final report (Word)1 Background/Context This project will develop a 10 credit, level M, 'Online Research Methods' (ORM) module, as part of the MSc Financial Management offered by Bristol Business School (BBS), University of the West of England (UWE). This programme is currently taught face-to-face, however during the academic year 2008/2009, it will also be offered to international distance learning students who are CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) professionally qualified accountants as part of their continued professional development (CPD).

A further pathway will also be offered to professional accountants working for the NHS. Aims and Objectives The aim of the project is to develop a generic online research methods module to be delivered in the UK and internationally to postgraduate students and professionals during the academic year 2008/2009. Repurposing & reuse of digital University-level content and evaluation (RePRODUCE) Maps and Learner Guides. Introduction This project aims to encourage the sharing and reuse of materials within UK Higher and Further Education Institutions. One major goal is to develop a tool that maps on-line learning resources already available freely on the internet (as indexed, for example, by the JISC RDN) to the Scottish Qualifications framework. Another is to re-purpose existing learner guides which are currently available to Scottish FE staff as paper documents to support their classroom use of such online learning resources, to on-line format.

From this process we will develop a reusable template for new on-line learner guides to content across the curriculum, for UK FE and HE use. The project refines a process already started by the Scottish Further Education Unit. The project will create a tool, which can map any content against the Scottish Further Education Curriculum. The tool will allow those in any sector to map content to the Scottish Qualifications Framework for Further Education. Aims Objectives. REHASH - Repurposing Existing Healthcare Assets to Share. The final report is available at the bottom of the page Region: London Overview St. George’s and Guy's, King's and St.Thomas' School of Medicine have produced large collections of attractive, high quality, electronic resources which support their undergraduate programmes in medicine and healthcare. Both partners specialise, particularly, in the development of image-based and interactive resources, which have been extremely well-received by both staff and students.

REHASH aims to repurpose these resources to different educational levels in order to produce a seamless progression and consistency in the transition from Further Education (FE) to Higher Education (HE). Objective The key objective of this project is to re-purpose the large existing collections of contextual RLOs (Reusable Learning Objects), to provide teachers and students with attractive learning materials to support: Project Methodology Implications/ Deliverables/ Stakeholders Lead Institution St.

Project Partners Project Staff. Approaching Teaching Learning and Assessment (ATLAS) Background Project Final Report1 The project focuses on the work of a university-wide, interdisciplinary team involved in the development and delivery of professional development within University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). The project exploits expertise of the course team built up around delivery of the HE Teaching Toolkit, a 20 credit award for new HE staff in learning and teaching support at UCLan. This course is well established within UCLan, is nationally accredited by the HE Academy, and has been running since 2003.

Professional development needs of hourly paid and part-time staff are recognised as high priority for the sector. Technology has the potential to enhance the learning of students if used appropriately. Aims and Objectives Project Methodology Outline of key activities: Research underpinning Project will utilise an action research approach and evaluation of the pilot involving: The above processes will be supported by a research assistant Continuation Deliverables 1. 2. 3. Using digitised resources enhance learning in Higher Education. Background/Context Project Final Report1 The University of Hull, in common with most HE institutions, runs a Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education for its staff.

Understanding how to use new technologies to support and enhance the quality of teaching and learning in higher education is a core component of this programme and the module we aim to develop will build upon and extend this requirement. Aims and Objectives The module aims to help staff, as students on the PGCert(HE), to use digital resources (artefacts) and tools that are freely available to the community in order to enhance the quality of their teaching and, in turn, the student learning experience. It will achieve this by: Project Methodology The module will be developed in an iterative fashion around a core team of learning developers and lecturers based at the University of Hull. Deliverables By the end of the project the following deliverables will be available: Stakeholders Internally: Externally: Project Staff.
