Divide sts evenly between 3 needles, placing 21 sts on each needle. Join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. Place 34 stitches on each of the two needles, and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. Round 1: [K2, p2] to end. Repeat this round until work measures 1.5 inches, increasing 1 st on each needle on the final round, to 70 sts total. Leg Next Round, establish pattern stitch: Work round 1 of pattern stitch chart. Pattern is worked 7 times in each round. Work Rounds 3-22 of leg chart 3 times, and then rounds 3-12 once more. To setup for the heel, rearrange the stitches: Work the first two stitches from the first needle, in pattern, onto the second needle; then slip the first two stitches of the second needle to the first.

The first needle will be now referred to as the Heel Needle, and the second needle will be referred to as the Foot Needle. Heel This portion is worked flat, in rows. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have a total of 32 rows, ending after a Row 2. Amused. YOKE Using crochet cast on method, CO 62 sts.

Heel Flap The heel flap is worked flat across 37 [41, 45] sts, which may be consolidated onto one needle. Waistband: Using smaller needle, CO 136[156, 176, 196, 216, 236, 256] sts, leaving a yarn tail approx. 12 inches long.

Place marker (use marker which is different from others) and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. K 4 rounds. P 1 round; this round forms turning ridge for waistband elastic casing. K 3 rounds. Fold work to WS along turning ridge so that CO edge is directly behind sts on needle. Next Round: [Insert tip of left needle into st of CO edge which is directly behind first st on needle, k this st together with first stitch on needle] to last 10 sts; k to end. Twist + Shout.
