Google+ opened its doors to the public last week , and has since seen a whopping 1269 percent growth in traffic, according to data from Experian Hitwise . The social network may also have hit 50 million members, according to analyst Paul Allen. Google+ has been seen as one of the fasted growing social networks since it first appeared on the grid. The social network reached 10 million users , two weeks out of the box, which Google+ analyst Paul Allen of Ancestry.com predicted days before the company actually announced the numbers in its second quarter earnings call .

The Google+ Project has been growing rapidly since it’s launch . Many are tipping the service to steal a huge chunk of FaceBooks traffic. Although I have signed up, I haven’t posted much on Google+ as I have been busy over the last few weeks, though I can certainly see the appeal of the service, particularly it addresses the main issue with Facebook by allowing you to allocate friends into different circles.
Google’s new Direct Connect features makes connecting to your favorite brands ridiculously easy by allowing a user to type “+Brand Name” and be taken directly to the newly announced Google+ brand pages. So if you wanted to find the Angry Birds page, you’d simply type “+Angry Birds”... Finally after over four months, Google+ has announced Business and Brand pages. After months of users questioning when business’s will be allowed to create their own place on the new social network, Google has pleased them all. Users who are affiliated with a company or brand will soon be permitted to create... It’s called G+etiquette and it’s exclusive to our newest social networking obsession.

Using Google Plus Hangouts for Indie Filmmaking
Google's emerging social network can be a highly valuable resource for industry professionals working on shoestring budgets and smaller projects. Much of its value comes in the convenience of organizing and laying out your project (or multiple projects) while wielding a relatively clean interface. One aspect of Google+, the "Hangout" feature, can be a vital tool for those weekend warriors in the indie film community.YouTube is closely integrating Google’s Hangouts group video chat platform with its live streaming in an effort to make video watching more social. The site has already quietly begun to make live video feeds available to Hangouts users, and it will eventually add tools to improve discovery of live streams both within Hangouts and on YouTube.com, I was told by YouTube Live Product Manager Brandon Badger this week. Hangouts has been joined at the hip with YouTube ever since the chat platform launched as part of Google+ at the end of June. Hangouts users can launch YouTube videos from within the group video chat, and up to ten participants can watch the same video simultaneously. So far, only recorded videos have been featured within Hangouts, but Badger is going to officially reveal at Vidcon in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon that users can easily watch live streams together as well (check out a step-by-step guide in the box on the right if you want to try this yourself).
