Introducing the Rikke Hat: Downlaod The Rikke Hat pattern by clicking HERE. This hat was designed for DK weight yarn, and both of the photographed samples were knit out of Madelinetosh’s new Tosh Merino DK. For those of you wondering, Rikke is a wonderful globe-trotting customer of ours who was the first one to test knit the silver sample for Sarah, and the hat is named in her honor.

Very quick to knit, so great for gifts. I have used a bulky alpaca yarn so it had a fair drape and a pom-pom was too heavy, but it may work better if you use wool. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++*Note*I have originally posted and recommended size #10 needles for the body, but it seems like many people have been getting a less slouchy result. If you want to get a slouchy hat for sure, it might be better to use size #11 for the body. I don't have a specific gauge, but the fabric for the main body should be somewhat loose and have a bit of a drape. Materials Needed: US7 or 8 for Brim US10 or 11 for Body (NOTE : I had used #8 and #11, and the body was pretty big so I felted down a little. For either, DPN, fixed 16" Circular, Using 32"+ needles to work in Magic loop is your choice. I used Cascade Yarns Baby Alpaca Chunky. Directions: Waffel hat. NeedlesSmall circular and DP needles US 8 Yarn100 g Abuelita Merino Worsted and one ball Pickles Silk Mohair Gauge22 stitches = 4" Cast on 112 stitches on the circular needles.Knit rib, K2, P2, over the 5 next rounds.

Knit the pattern like this over the next round:Use an extra needle to work the pattern.* Slip 6 stitches (2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, 2 knit stitches) on to the extra needles. PLace the needle in front of your work. Keep knitting like this: Knit a rib, K2 , P2 over the 5 next rounds.K2, P 2(The new round will start here. Continue until the work is 7". Start decreasing right after a round of the pattern.

He Sows, She Sews: Clara Cowl. This pattern is more of a guide to make a reversible, seamless braided cowl. It can be adapted in several different ways and with different yarn.
