The Red Ribbon running through this Qinhuangdao park can be seen against the background of natural terrain and vegetation, spanning 500 meters (547 yards), integrating the functions of lighting, seating, environmental interpretation, and orientation. While preserving as much of the natural river corridor as possible, this project demonstrates how a minimal design solution can achieve a dramatic improvement to the landscape. The park is located on the Tanghe River at the eastern urban fringe of Qinhuangdao. Qunli Stormwater Wetland Park / Turenscape. Architects: Turenscape Location: Haerbin, Heilongjiang, China Area: 300,000 sqm Year: 2010 Photographs: Courtesy of Turenscape From the architect.
In mid 2009 Turenscape was commissioned to design a wetland park of 34.2 hectares right in the middle of this new town, which is listed as a protected regional wetland. The site is surrounded on four sides by roads and dense development. As such, water sources into this former wetland were being cut, and the wetland was under the threat. Open House, a vertical village, also architecture, but rather a social sculpture.
Its design is based on subjective urban studies (OPEN MASTERPLAN) and is thus, spatially and socially intertwined with the existing urban landscape. The residents as its future users are involved in the design, programming and construction. OPEN HOUSE combines individual and collective or public uses, such as a bar, a kitchen, a tea house, several pavilions, shops, workshops, a children’s home, a gallery and a community farm. From 26 July to August 28. more than 200 people involved in our public Building Workshop. We built houses together, including its furnishings, various pieces of furniture, from children’s stools to a drafting table, as well as stencils for a variety of signs.

Suárez Santas Arquitectos . photos: © Luis Asín Lapique . + archdaily Located in a business park with access to good transportation infrastructures, very close to the beltway and the new entry to the city through the north, the Sacred Art Business Park is an initiative of the Seville City Council, which wanted to address the needs of a deeply rooted professional field in the Andalusian capital, that of religious crafts.
This sector demanded new spaces to develop its activities and stimulate the modernization processes of its companies, improve its production facilities and its work environment. The Sacred Art Business Park draws inspiration from the traditional Mediterranean souk to recreate the private atmosphere of the old quarters where crafts people, grouped into different trades, manufactured and sold their products. It is a complex of nine buildings whose combination creates an urban and public space formed by streets perpendicular to one another. Tetsuo Kondo Architects. A forest known as Kadriorg is located in the center of city: trees that have grown there for three centuries, around a palace built for the Czar of Russia. Here we will build an elevated path that will weave its way between the trees in beautiful Kadriorg forest. Just 95m long, it will be made of 139mm steel pipe and sheet steel, 5mm thick, leaning on the trees here and there, without a single column. Walking along this path will give a slightly different sense of the forest. Instead of looking up at the trees from the ground, people will be strolling near the leaves, making their way between the branches. Within this framework, to the northeast of the main square is a complex that groups various spaces for culture, education and recreation; this site houses the Monument for the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla.

Their history is ancient, glorious and gory, but today techniques have been refined to the point of making the excavation similar to endoscopic surgery.
The new Vedeggio-Cassarate tunnel that connects the area by the Lugano stadium to the Milan-Zurich highway has already triggered an extensive urban transformation of the area, which will become the new entrance point to the city from the north. A simple idea, namely the repetition of a series of poles in spruce wood with rectangular sections, of different lengths, is rendered complex by the possibility to shape such forms through parametric design programs. New Yorkers can’t get enough of James Corner Field Operations with Diller Scofidio + Renfro‘s High Line as millions meandered along the refurbished rail tracks enjoying spectacular views of the skyline. And yet, the opening of the High Line in 2009 offered a mere preview of the project’s total grandeur as parts two and three of the 1.45 mile project were still to come. Today, the second phase of the High Line has opened to the public – a section which stretches from West 20th up to West 28th Street.
This segment includes a hovering frame that will display people’s silhouettes against the evening sky, an elevated pathway which brings visitors to the level of the trees’ canopy, and a Great Lawn which will be perfect for sun-bathing and a summer time picnic.
