Cologne 2014: Eindhoven designer Tsuyoshi Hayashi has used discarded roof tiles to create curving seats for a series of stools and benches (+ slideshow).

Hayashi gathered the traditional kawara tiles from a factory in Takahama, a city in Japan with a long history of producing the curved roof tiles from local clay. Across Japan, a five percent rate of kawara tiles being damaged during production results in more than 65,000 pieces being sent to landfill every year. Vessel. Struck by the synergy between the shapes of a hammock and a bath tub the founders of SplinterWorks, Miles Hartwell and Matt Withington, were inspired to create an engaging and inspiring furniture piece for the bathroom.

04 Counter. To mark its 75th anniversary Knoll joined forces with OMA, co-founded by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. At Salone del Mobile 2013 in Milan earlier this month they launched a new collection of kinetic furniture called Tools for Life. The collection features adjustable tables, swivel chairs, a stool, an executive desk, and other items. The minimalist material palette makes the furniture compatible with a range of residential and workplace interiors. I would like to highlight one of the collection pieces named 04 Counter. Bonaguro Giorgio : Fauteuil Piateda. Design Process: Foscarini's Concrete Aplomb Pendant Lamp. Concrete is part of the language of modern architecture, especially lately. Foscarini uses the material in a new way in creating its Aplomb pendant. The name Aplomb is inspired by the plumb-bob tool traditionally used by masons.

Aplomb also means “self-possessed” and ”confident.” The piece was designed by Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere of Studio Lucidi & Pevere, based in Udine, Italy.
