It’s taken me a long time to accept the fact that I don’t really like desks. At least not small ones that are designated for tasks that don’t involve spreading out—I need space . Because of my aversion to small desks, I’ve spent an awful lot of time over the last few years camped out on the sofa with my laptop doing freelance work at 2AM, and honestly, my body isn’t happy about it. I need to be sitting at a table in order to work (and sit) properly for any length of time, and that table needs to be spacious. March 14th, 2012 This look into the studio of artist and animator Hayley Morris is part of British Director Tomas Leach’s intriguing documentary series ‘Little Scraps of Paper’ . The films are explorations of varied artists’ individual spaces and the initial steps they take in order to create their work and document their ideas. There are two extronidarily beautiful things happening in this iPhone video by Patrick Colpron . The first is a spectacular six-sail kite designed and flown by Steve Polansky , and second is a heart-achingly wonderful song called Lighthouse by Patrick Watson . What a perfect moment in time, sort of an impromptu video poem. While I truly appreciate the need for any kid to get dirty in a sandbox or let their imagination run wild in a field of mud puddles (something I was doing myself only an hour ago), I love to see how technology like a Kinect 3D camera can create new interactive environments and games.
