Jean-Honoré Fragonard was a French Rococo painter and printmaker, born on April 5th 1732 in Grasse in the south of France.
Crawl Anywhere was originally developed to index in Apache Solr 5400 web sites (more than 10.000.000 pages) for the Hurisearch search engine : http://www.hurisearch.org/ . During this project, various crawlers were evaluated (heritrix, nutch, …) but one key feature was missing : a user friendly web interface to manage Web sites to be crawled with their specific crawl rules. Mainly for this raison, we decided to develop our own Web crawler.

It has been described in rather different ways: as a utopic vision , as a web of data , or merely as a natural paradigm shift in our daily use of the Web. Most of all, the Semantic Web has inspired and engaged many people to create innovative semantic technologies and applications. semanticweb.org is the common platform for this community.
The Semantic Web is a web of data. There is lots of data we all use every day, and it is not part of the web. I can see my bank statements on the web, and my photographs, and I can see my appointments in a calendar.
