Slim majority back gay marriage, Post-ABC poll says. Five years ago, at 36 percent, support for gay marriage barely topped a third of all Americans. Now, 53 percent say gay marriage should be legal, marking the first time in Post-ABC polling that a majority has said so. “This is very consistent with a lot of other polling data we’ve seen and the general momentum we’ve seen over the past year and a half,” said Evan Wolfson, president of Freedom to Marry, a leading pro-gay-marriage group.

“As people have come to understand this is about loving, committed families dealing, like everyone, with tough times, they understand how unfair it is to treat them differently.” Opponents of same-sex marriage took issue with the poll, which asks respondents: “Do you think it should be legal or illegal for gay and lesbian couples to get married?” Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, argued that the term “illegal” could be inferred to mean that violators could be imprisoned, which most Americans would consider harsh.

Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery: The Horror, The Horror. Okay, let me warn you. I’m about to rant. So if you’re having a peaceful, quiet day and feel like keeping things serene, you might want to click on over to our Owning Spirituality section, ‘cause this one is gonna get hot, loud, and sassy. So get ready to turn up the volume. I’ve got something to say. Can I just say ENOUGH WITH THE SURGERY, ALREADY? Okay. When I was collecting questions for my upcoming book What’s Up Down There? My answer was this: No. We women have enough pressure to appear a certain way: stick-skinny with big breasts, small noses and shapely thighs, tight little buns and thick, shiny hair. Surgery should never be undertaken lightly. Many women considering these procedures don’t understand that the procedures are not without risk.

We counseled her regarding the risks of surgery, primarily the risk of scar tissue and painful sex, but Audrey and her husband insisted. Can I just have at that guy? Can I just have at that guy? Maybe I’m being too harsh. Okay. Do you hear me? N/a. Congressmen Fight D.C. Marriage | News. Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz has been outspoken in his opposition to same-sex marriage in Washington, D.C., ever since the city council passed — and Mayor Adrian Fenty signed — a marriage equality bill last month. Now Chaffetz has been joined by two U.S. senators, Oklahoma's James Inhofe (pictured) and Mississippi's Roger Wicker, and 36 other U.S. representatives in filing an amicus brief in D.C. superior court calling for a voter referendum on the issue, The Washington Post reports. “Under the United States Constitution, they serve as members of the ultimate legislative authority for the District of Columbia and the very body which delegated to the District its limited legislative power under home rule,” the filing states.

“As members of the District’s ultimate legislative body, amici are concerned about the extent of the District’s delegated legislative authority, the preservation of Congress’s constitutional authority, and the interpretation of home rule.” Eightmaps. Prop. 8 trial video barred -- for now - latimes.com. Reporting from Los Angeles and Washington — The camera-shy justices of the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday barred video coverage of California's Proposition 8 trial, at least for now, apparently concerned that witnesses opposed to same-sex marriage could be harassed if shown on YouTube.

It was the second time in three months that the high court had intervened on behalf of defenders of "traditional marriage. " In October, the court issued an emergency order to prevent Washington state officials from posting online the names of 138,000 citizens who had signed petitions seeking to overturn a law giving gays and lesbians equal benefits. The justices' order expires Wednesday at 1 p.m. PST, and they did not make clear what further action would be taken. The Proposition 8 trial began Monday and is expected to last three weeks. Although they did not make their reasoning clear, the order could reflect a deep-seated reluctance to permit TV coverage of federal court trials.
