So I've been working on a crocheted heart that can be used for coasters or attached on a tie for cute wall buntings. After several starts and restarts, I finally came up with a design that I liked. There are several similar heart designs based on granny squares, but nothing that was working out for me. I wanted something with several colors, but yet something that still looked like a heart and would be good for a nursery. I also wanted something that would work with different weight yarns. I've written up the pattern to share with you. To make them into buntings, crochet a chain and attach the hearts with double crochets into one or two of the border loops, while evenly spacing the hearts along the chain as you crocheted it. I also had the privilege of my photo being used as the Group Cover Photo on the Crochet Mood Blanket 2014 FB Page for this week! I used my MOOD BLANKET SQUARE for the first three rows of my"Rainbows & Daisies" Square and it never ceases to amaze me how colour and row composition can change the appearance of the same pattern!! Day 72 and still making 1 square a day - although I have to admit that this week I really wished I had rather done a square a week!!
I have so many WIP's and new projects planned that it takes discipline to actually make that one leeeeetle tineee square every day! Missy arrives to investigate..... It's time for the Circle in Square Tutorial from one of my latest posts. So pull out your (scraps of) yarn and get to work! I use US terms for my tutorials. First choose your colors carefully. This always takes a lot of time with me. I also wanted to give you the tip of using washi tape around your finger, (I've said this before) to keep your skin from burning and the yarn from leaving a painful notch (not sure about this word, is slit better??) So to start your circle chain 4, join with a slip stitch. Round 1: Ch 3, 15 double crochets (16 stitches in total), join with sl st. Round 2: Add new color, ch 2, half double crochet in same stitch, than 2 hdc in each next stitch (32 stitches in total). Round 3: Add new color (I suggest to use a contrasting color). But I've also taken the opportunity to write out another tutorial for you . My original Sunburst Granny Heart , which I posted last spring has turned out to be one of my most popular patterns. That's quite a complicated design though, with many different stitches . In this version my aim was to simplify things and also to create a solid version, suitable for stuffing......... Hello again, here goes with round 4....starting to develop the heart shape. In the next stitch make 1 hdc......... 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches........
