Datavisualization. BASTER. Skype Statistics on Datavisualization. How does the communication within a creative team look like? Berlin based design studio onformative analyzed their Skype log files and summarized their findings in this poster. The visualization shows a total of 62,676 messages consisting of 2,531,434 characters sent between the two partners Julia Laub and Cedric Kiefer. All of the communication happened in the timeframe between 2008 and 2010. The poster consists of one main visualization showing the complete timeline of sent messages and files. The balance of the communication, daytime or nighttime and the monthly average of typed characters are shown in more in-depht graphs.

I haven’t had the chance yet to investigate further, but the image set on Flickr.com looks spot-on. onformative, founded by Julia Laub and Cedric Kiefer in Berlin, is a studio specialized in generative design solutions covering various types of media and topics. Wanna have your work featured here? Microplexes | URBAGRAM. This is a transcript of a talk delivered at the Bartlett school of Architecture on March 24th 2010, as part of a series of seminars held by the Center for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) at University College London.

This is my first academic seminar, in which I lay out some of my research aims and their conceptual underpinnnings. You can see the original presentation in the format it was delivered here. Hello. My talk is called microplexes. It’s a presentation on how very small complex systems can show us how to grow large urban systems. Today I want to talk about scale. Fig. 1 Scales of knowledge (a very rough sketch from my notebook). This is one of the first sketches I put in my notebook when I started my PhD 6 months ago. I want to show you how network topologies give us a means of analysing and comparing spatial systems at disparate scales, how network science gives us a vocabulary for talking about any spatial system and what the limitations of that vocabulary might be.
