This is a useful mental maths resource aimed at ... To infinity... and beyond: School of Hard Puzzles. The UK TV channel Dave recently aired a series called School of Hard Sums presented by Irish comic Dara O'Briain with Marcus du Sautoy.
In each episode they pit brains against braun as Dara tries to reach a solution in a better way than a fellow comic who simply tries to thrash the answer out using practical methods. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and very much wanted to share the problems with my classes - now I can! I will definitely be making use of them on Fridays, period 5, with 9 set 1 who will sit a 30-minute assessment and do 30-minutes of puzzles from here and from my Mensa Calendar that I bought a long time ago.
