Simple Drawstring Coin Purse. I hope you didn't mind the wait and are not disappointed - but I finally got my act together. So, here's a new tutorial for a very easy to assemble drawstring coin purse. As a matter of fact this is so easy it would make a nice little craft for kids too. Just have them use felt instead of leather, or why not oil cloth. I made a whole set of these in no time with just some leather scraps and left over fabric, because what I did is line them using some Vliesofix (I'm not paid by Vliesofix, in case you're wondering, I just like to use it). For the drawstring you can use basically anything you have: biais tape, ribbon, waxed cotton shoe laces, leather shoe laces, hemp string, ...

The nice thing about these coin purses is that you can make them in any size, really. Here's what you'll need: Steps 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Please note, this tutorial is intended for personal use only. Party printables. How to Weave a Paper Ball Ornament. When I was in Thailand, I would see the local people weave palm leaves into beautiful bowls, fans, balls and other amazing things. I asked my aunt if she knew how to make these things and she gave me a book that was all in Thai. I don't know how to read Thai, I can barely speak it. Somehow after a week of fumbling around with strips of paper, I managed to decode the pictures and figure it out. Here is my tutorial for you, it is not in Thai, and hopefully it won't take you weeks to make. I did take pictures, but please watch the video. Part 1 (Four strand braid) Part 2 (Paper weaving) How to make an origami business card holder. Here's a quick and easy origami project: a business card case or gift card holder.

Use patterned gift wrap (I like heavier-weight wrapping paper for a sturdier case), graph paper, a paper bag, magazine pages, or origami paper. Decorate the case with washi tape or stamps for a cute way to present gift cards. It will look like you put a lot of thought and effort into a gift that was probably the easiest thing you could buy.

Slacker. Just kidding. To make a holder for a standard 3.5 x 2" business card, start with an 8.5" square of paper. Place the paper pretty side down. Fold the left and right edges inward to meet the center fold. Open the paper again. Close the left and right flaps. Turn the paper over and fold the top down so that the exposed diagonal edges meet precisely at the fold. Fold the bottom up in the same way, tucking the bottom edge into the diagonal flaps. Insert a card to make sure it fits, then fold the case in half. To make a fabric version of this case, see this post. Field Notes: Red Blooded. Guirnaldas, luces y acción. How About Orange. I've seen photos created using a DIY camera trick and couldn't resist testing it myself.

Bokeh is the term for the out-of-focus areas in a photo, particularly those little highlights created when photographing small points of light. Usually those highlights are circles or polygons, but it's lots of fun to make your own shapes. You'll need a DSLR camera and a lens with a large aperture. I'm definitely no photography expert, so refer to this good article for info about lenses and settings for taking shots with bokeh.

I used my Canon Digital Rebel XSi with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens (this is my only extra lens; it's relatively cheap, lens-wise, and I love it). You'll also need a piece of black paper, pencil, scissors, tape, and a craft knife or decorative paper punch. Cut a strip of paper long enough to wrap around your lens. Then set this paper tube on a piece of black paper and trace around it. I used a knife to cut a cloud, asterisk, and tulip. Success! Envoltorios para regalos hechos con costuras. How to make Toadstool Pencils – Easy! If you’re the type that loves to make gifts for others, then say goodbye to cookies in a jar (or not, but you could give these as well!). This is a super easy, cheap and fun craft that will make a good gift to yourself or someone else! Glue the wooden button to the pencil using wood glue or a multi-purpose glue.

Once you’ve glued them, allow the glue to set. In the picture below I placed them into a jar of matches, but something like a jar of rice will work even better. Once the wooden buttons are firmly glued you can begin to paint. Use a scrap piece of cardboard and only small dabs of paint. It’s important that the paint is applied gently from the top of the button downwards. To get the dots for the “toadstools” I used the end of my paintbrush. Once the dots have dried you will have some good looking toadstool pencils in your possession.

DIY Stamping & Embossing « greeneyed.com. We are absolute suckers for fine stationery in the Ulmer family. You would be mildly disturbed to take a peek into my stationary drawers. Because I totally have one of those. Seriously. Hey, in our childhood home, our mother had four cabinets stacked to the brim with stationery, so it’s in our blood. Since this habit can be a rather expensive one, I decided it was time to learn how to emboss on my own, and I even carved a custom stamp for the project.

It helps when you have a friend who already knows how to do it, and thus has all the materials and can teach you! Materials: Blank sheet of rubber for carving stamp Pencil Carving tools (I would recommend purchasing this set to get you started) Design for stamp Stamp ink Sheets of paper to be stamped and embossedEmbossing powderEmbossing heat tool Directions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Fingers), so I am in full on birthday planning mode. I thought I’d share one of the projects I’m doing for her party, and I’ll do a full coverage post of the main event two weekends from now. The theme is monkeys because well, they’re adorable and Sunny has a beloved stuffed animal monkey, ever-so-creatively named MONKEY. Listening to her imitate his monkey noises is priceless, so why not build a whole day around it? Banana treats and all! Here is an image of the invitation I designed and emailed out to her guests (saving both paper and money!). As you can imagine, everything relating to the party will pull from the monkey/banana theme established in the invite.

I decided that for the troop of toddlers in attendance I didn’t want to go the cheesy party hat root. I’m finished with half of the hats, and will create a special birthday girl monkey hat for Sunny to wear on her big day. Directions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Photo: Courtesy of Ashley Weeks Cart. DIY Finger Woven T-Shirt Necklace « greeneyed.com. Welp, it’s officially summer. With the humidity and burning sun, I feel more than secure making such a pronouncement. The rising temperatures have got me contemplating the future months of third trimester pregnancy and the clothing I’ll be wearing to get me through with as much comfort and coolness as possible in such a state, during such a time of year.

Thus, my wardrobe will primarily consist of cotton maxi dresses, and white t-shirts paired with leggings. Classy, I know. Accessories will be key to keeping such ensembles fresh, so I decided to dive into the stack of old t-shirts I have piled in my crafting trunk and whip up some new duds to rock around my neck. Note: I just can’t ditch old t-shirts, even if I’m never going to wear them again, so crafting material they become. I turned the t-shirts into yarn, as I’ve done previously, and wound back the clock to a time when I used to finger weave jewelry as a kid. Materials: T-shirt(s) (with no seams along the sides) Scissors Fingers 2.

Mary Marie Knits. We have decided that everyone needs a pouf from Mary Marie Knits. What is a pouf? It’s a colorful, spherical pillow with a chunky, hand knit cover. Cara, the genius behind Mary Marie Knits, uses a ribbed stitch which gives her poufs their signature “sea urchin” appearance. Each pouf is hand knit in a color of your choosing (or in a 2-color stripe!) And a pouf can either be stuffed with a soft fiber fill, which makes it a little bit floppy and squeezable like a regular pillow, or the pouf can be filled with a sturdier foam roll, if you would like to use yours as a footstool or low seating. They come in 6 sizes, ranging from accent pillow size to seat size. We think these quirky, knit spheres will add character to any space. ENVIABLE PERK: Every pouf (and rug) in Mary Marie Knits’ shop is knit by hand. Poufs will make you smile. GIVEAWAY ALERT: Mary Marie Knits is giving away a small knit pouf.
